Chyler Leigh: Anniston Kae Is ‘Pretty Much Perfect’

Chyler Leigh‘s family has been in the midst of a steady growth spurt for the past six years. But with the May 7th birth of their third child, Anniston Kae, the Grey’s Anatomy star and her husband, actor Nathan West, have found that parenting gets a little bit easier with each addition to their clan.

“Going from zero to one is a huge shock,” Chyler, 27, tells PEOPLE. “One to two was a little more challenging. Two to three was a bit more challenging, but once you get used to multiples you figure out how to put things together quicker. You learn how to organize. With number three coming, you get more confident as a mom. The third time around, you know what to expect. It’s like calm mom, calm baby.”

It doesn’t hurt that Anni, as they call her, is a mellow baby. “She started sleeping through the night at two months,” Chyler says of the infant, who was born just 10 days after Grey’s Anatomy‘s fifth season wrapped. “She’s such a happy baby. This one is just all smiles, and she talks a lot,” the actress notes. “She’s pretty much perfect.”

The well-behaved baby has already won over the actors on her mom’s hit show. “Justin [Chambers] nicknamed her Baby Elvis because of her mohawk,” Chyler says. The cast has showered the new arrival with gifts — mostly of the eco-friendly variety: “Justin got us organic cotton onesies, as well as gifts for the older kids,” she shares. “Eric [Dane] got us organic baby diaper ointment and lotions and Shonda [Rhimes] got us a huge Saks Fifth Avenue basket, which was really sweet.”

Laila Ali: Laundry Can Wait, Curtis Jr. Can't

There is a very good reason expectant parents are advised to sleep while they still can! Laila Ali cites the lack of shut-eye as the biggest challenge she faced after welcoming son Curtis Muhammad Jr., who turns 1 this week.

“I didn’t have any idea I was going to be as tired as I am,” the 31-year-old professional boxer and Dancing With the Stars alum tells the Fall 2009 issue of Fit Pregnancy. “I love to sleep, and I’m used to getting eight to 10 hours a night. Now, when I get five, I’m thrilled.”

The sleep deprivation has taken a toll. “I’m not on top of things like I normally am,” she admits. “I’ve got a pile of paperwork, messages to return and laundry that needs to be done.” Keeping the focus on Curtis Jr. helps, however.

“You just get to a point where you have to say, ‘This is going to have to wait. It’s just not that important.’ I could hire a full-time nanny and be able to take care of everything, but I’d rather be there for my son and let the laundry wait.”

When she does find herself in need of a break, Laila relies on a part-time nanny for a few hours a day, three days per week. “At some point I broke down and decided to get some help so I could at least go to the gym,” she explains.

Crediting boxing, running and some light weight training for her return to pre-baby form, Laila reveals, “as of now, I’m back in shape but I’d like to lose five or six more pounds.”

For other new moms ready to hit the gym, she advises “be consistent, and make it a priority.”

“Ideally, I like to get up early and work out. But now I exercise when I can fit it in. Sometimes that might be in the evening when I’m tired and don’t feel like working out, so I have to drag myself to the gym. And, occasionally, I just don’t make it.”

On those days, Laila says she is forgiving of herself. “I am not preparing for an [athletic] event,” she points out. “I’m a mommy first.”

Denise Richards Saddened to Send Sam to School

Jordan Strauss/WireImage

How does Denise Richards‘ feel about sending daughter Sam, 5, to kindergarten this fall? Let’s just say, “it’s complicated.”

“It’s bittersweet,” the actress and reality star told PEOPLE Saturday night at the Much Love Animal Rescue‘s third annual summer fundraiser Bow Wow WOW Howlywood! in Los Angeles. “Sami starts kindergarten, which I cannot believe, in a couple of weeks. I’m so sad about it.”

Denise, 38, who has two daughters with ex-husband Charlie Sheen – they’re also parents to Lola Rose, 4 – said the time has flown by. “I can’t believe how fast five years have gone,” she says. “I’m very proud of her and very happy, but from here on out she’s in school.”

Denise, who has rescue dogs at home with her and supports the Much Love charity’s mission, says she can’t help but open her home to needy animals. “I’ve always been that way,” she says. “Ever since I was little I always brought home every little stray dog who didn’t have a home. My daughters love animals as well, so I can’t help it.”

Denise’s reality show, Denise Richards: It’s Complicated recently completed its second season on E!.
