Laila Ali on How Curtis Jr. Changed Her Life

Former boxer and Dancing With the Stars alum Laila Ali, 31, and her sports broadcaster husband Curtis Conway, 38, talk to PEOPLE about welcoming son Curtis Jr. (also called CJ) on August 28, 2008.

Laila: Our relationship now is so different. We used to enjoy going to the movies and dinner, but now, having the baby, it’s easy to forget to take time for yourself.

Curtis: We can’t just get up and go. Our time outside of the house really has to be planned.

Laila: But we’re not missing anything. The only problem is, I’m tired all the time. So as soon as I get free time, I want to go to sleep.

Curtis: Laila is very attentive to him. He has a certain whine for one thing, a certain cry for another. She automatically picks up on what it is.

Laila: He is very feisty, and he knows what he wants. You don’t have to guess with him.

Curtis: I love getting on the floor with him. I love him slobbering over me. We wrestle.

Laila: I definitely want more kids. But I’m going to wait until my son is about 3 — so he can get me a diaper when I need one! When you have a child and commit to raising that child together, then there is nothing stronger than that.

LOL Holly, not sure if you have babies or not but they ARE a total buzzkill (I have 3 – a 20 month old and two 7 month olds). However – they are so worth it! No dinner or movie or date could ever compare to spending time with them.
I had to laugh at Laila’s logic on the three year gap between kids. Smart girl. I had 13 months between my eldest and my twins and it’s only now he is beginning to be useful as a helper. Even then, it’s only half the time. Sometimes he wreaks havoc by stealing the pacifier or running off with the nappy instead.
They are a stunning family. But I agree that the photoshop is way OTT.

beautiful baby! i dunno…i don’t think it’s so hard to do things with 1 baby, but maybe that’s b/c mine is only 7 months old. sure, we have to pack some extra stuff when we go places, but we do most or all of the things we did before he was born now that he’s here.

I do agree with MZ. We packed a bag and he fit into what we did (for the most part). We still did our weekly dinner dates with one child. It all changed with baby number 2 and by baby number 3 it was hopeless.

I’ve seen Laila Ali in person and her skin is TO DIE FOR! I don’t know about her husband and child, and this could be photo shopped, but still..she does have beautiful skin, not perfect, but still beautiful.

I dont understand why people have to be so critical of this beautiful woman. Why cant you just say she is beautiful and leave it at that. It shows how much hate you have for people that you dont even know. That is the problem with this world now just hateful and mean spirited people. Search out your heart and see what is so wrong with you life that you just cant see the good in other people.
