I have a 3 year old daughter. Why on earth would I ever instill in her the idea that she is not “cute” enough, or pretty enough or anything just the way she is? It’s the same reason why those toddler beauty pageants creep me out – why do we feel the need to “decorate” our children? Whether its hair color, string bikinis for toddler girls, makeup on children, etc…it all just makes me wary. Children are children, why are there so many people trying to make them look like miniature adults?

You can tell whoever did it was pretty careful about not getting it too close to his scalp because his roots are still a darker color. Personally I think it’s pointless to make kids so fashionable but I don’t think dyeing their hair every once in awhile is going to harm them too much physically. The only thing I’m worried about is that it makes kids superficial and image-conscious.

Elli- Getting your ears pierced does NOT permantly, or even temporarily, for that matter, harm your earlobes unless the piercings get infected. Okay, you’re getting a hole put in your earlobe….But there’s plenty of much, much worse things you could be doing to your body. I have pierced ears, and I love them! :)

Minka- I think there’s a double-standard going on to, but in pretty much the opposite way. Gwen is getting picked apart left and right for dying/bleaching her son’s hair…Yet Maddox Jolie-Pitt has been seen with streaks numerous times, and even had part of his hair bleached last summer. Pax has also been seen with highlights at least once. Yet hardly anyone criticizes Angie and Brad for coloring their boys’ hair (why do I get the feeling, though, that that may change if, in a few years, we see Knox with any sort of dye in his hair?).
