Samantha, it has been a cooler August than usual (around the lower 80s where I live, about 30 miles northeast of Santa Monica). And Santa Monica can get breezy and cool sometimes. I went to the beach in SM a few weeks ago and ended up having to wear a light sweater later in the afternoon.
