I have four children who were breast fed on average two and a half years each. With each child came new or different obstacles. I only wish this web site “the best for babies” was available 16 years ago or even 5 years ago. Thanks for the interview, and this website. Along with the free sample formulas that are given out to expecting mothers they should also give out websites, breast pads, and perhaps a coupon for a free nursing bra to help a new mother /baby get off to a good start.

Mary, I am not sure where you live, but in Canada, a lot of the hospitals give you free stuff. Along with complimentary knitted things, you get free formula or whatever and diapers and stuff. It depends on what you want to do I guess, my baby was in the NICU,so we left with so much gifts and stuff.

I did both so I recieved formula and stuff, but we were using Enfamil A+ (which the hospital didn’t carry it was either Good Start,Similac or the Soy ones). If you breastfeed you get a manual breastpump and packets of Lansinoh and stuff.

I wish maternity leave was more helpful in certain countries. I was on sick leave firstly because of my bedrest and then once my baby was born they extened my maternity leave so I end up getting like 2 extra months with him (1year + 2 months). I know some moms that have to go back to work 2 weeks later. It was nice too because my husband did the paternity leave thing and took two weeks off work :)

Thank you for sharing th Kelly Rutherford interview – it was great.
I admire her for coming forward and saying she’s am a normal mom, a working mom and a celebrity mom, and she still breastfeeds her 3 year old and her newborn. I admire her for that.
