Green Toys: Milk Jugs Make Great Toys

08/10/2009 at 10:00 AM ET

The main ingredient in Green Toys is recycled milk jugs, so I’m thinking there must be an incentive program for toddlers there. “Drink your milk and they’ll make more toys!”

The Recycling Truck ($19) is a favorite of my two boys. Manufactured without metal axles, the truck opens and dumps and has recycling compartments in the sides. It’s tough and has held up great when my kids play rough with it.

The Indoor Gardening Kit ($16) is great for nurturing young green thumbs.

We’re using our Jump Rope ($10) to develop my 4-year-old son’s gross motor skills. He also likes to tie it to anything with wheels and voila! Instant tow truck!

The Sand Play Set ($15) is perfect for summer play and the eco-friendly manufacturing practices leave a smaller footprint in the sand.

The Green Toys Tool Set ($17) includes 15 pieces that all fit neatly in a tool box. The nuts, bolts, screws and nails all go into holes in the side of the caddy. The oversize tools are perfect for my son’s hands and he loves having tools just like Mama’s!

Thank you for sharing this. My son is the ultimate garbage toy truck collector at age 4. He loves anything trash and recycling. We will be sure to get this ~ he will be so surprised it is one he doesn’t have yet!

oooo, I love green toys and I love that truck! Recycled milk (my favorite beverage) jugs for a recycling truck. Perfect combo.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
