I think the name Finley Rae is adorable.
I was a little worried, because I personally didn’t like the name Avis. But I was pleasantly surprised.

congrats to the family loving the name Finley rae can’t wait to see pictures

- Courtney on

Congrats to them both. Another girl named Finley and another daughter for Daniel. I guess Atticus will be his only son. ;)

Love the name! I actually have Finley Grace picked out for a girl if I ever have one! My husband hasn’t had a girl in his family for 53 years….and we already have two boys! Wish me luck!

- Corrie on

Congrats to them!

- Annie on

what a beautiful name, seemed like she’d been preg forever to me, for some reason. a lot nicer name IMO than Avis (too much like the car rental company, lol), congrats to the new parents!

- Sam & Freya's Mum on

congrats to them!

i guess i’m the only one who is bummed that yet another girl is “finley” (that’s my 7 year old son’s name and i wish the girls would stop stealing it and making into a female name! lol)

- Amandamay on

Another Finley? That name sure has taken off along with Harper!

- JMO on

ah! love the name!!!!!!!!!!! i think finley for a girl is beautiful!! and my mom’s maiden name is “ray”, so i always thought of finley ray…the “e” is still pretty too though! congrats! :)

I do like the name for a boy, but not so sure it’s very feminine – I would have opted for fiona, a beautiful Irish girls’ name…..

- Cece on

Finley is a boys name in the land where it originates.

- Elzbieta on

I do like the name rae. I feel like its replaced rose and lynn when it comes to middle names.

- Elzbieta on

Great.. Now even more people will give this name to their daughters. Ugh. Finley is not a feminine name.

- Jane on

Congrats to them! Anyone know where the middle name Martineau came from? Is that Joanne’s last name?

- CelebBabyLover on

Congrats to them, but it really saddens me that this fabulous Irish BOYS name has been used for yet another celebrity girl.

- Ella on

Wow 4 girls & only 1 single boy. I bet he’s spoiled :) .

- Alex on

Too bad that Finley is going to the girls just like Riley :( . I used to want to name my sons Riley, Finley or Liam. At least Liam won’t go to the girls.

- Alex on

Love the name, Rae is his fathers middle name and Martineau is his mothers maiden name. Congrats to the family!!!!

- sam on

Alex- what do you mean? Not 2 be rude but, I don’t know why anyone would wanna name their son Riley. I can understand Liam, but not Finley, Harper, or Riley. I like the name Finley Rae. Ray isn’t great… but Rae seems like a girl name.

- TheFirstPositiveHolly on

TheFirstPositiveHolly – Finley has been a MALE name for hundreds of years in the UK. Only in the past 5 years has it become a trendy girl name in the US. Riley was a male name also for many many years and has recently been “taken” by the girls lol You kind of prove our point that these names have been stolen by the girls. I feel bad for my son with that name (When I named him, there were no girls called Finley, only boys) because now people in the US think it’s “girlie”. Oh well.

- Amandamay on

Amandamay- I don’t know about Finley or Riley, but Harper has been used as a girls’ name for quite awhile. Case in point: If I’m remembering correctly, Harper Lee, the author of “To Kill a Mockingbird” was a woman. :)

- CelebBabyLover on

CelebBabyLover – I didn’t say anything about the name Harper. Just Finley and Riley. And it truly has only been in the past couple years that Finley has suddenly become a trendy girl name in the US. Like I said, for hundreds of years it’s been a MALE name in the UK.

- Amandamay on

Congrats! Too funny… I loved the names Finley for a boy and Harper as a middle name for a girl WAY before knowing celebrities like Lisa Marie Presley was using them. They’re beautiful names, no doubt, just didn’t expect them to become this popular with celebs.

- Kait on

Aw the name Finley Rae is really pretty! I don’t really like her sister’s name Avis Ann. Not my cup of tea. Anyways congratulations on your new baby girl!

- Kristin on

Congrats to Daniel and his wife. Also, congrats to him on his sobriety!! That speaks volumes!! I like that name, Finley. And I usually don’t like different kind of names. All my children have traditional names.
