Nicole Richie is known as known for her boho-chic style as she is for Hollywood pedigree — and with fans like Madonna wearing her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry collection, her design career couldn’t be hotter.

Pregnant with her second child (daughter Harlow Winter Kate is 18 months old), the star has signed on to create — and model — a line of maternity clothes with her signature flair for A Pea in the Pod.

Nicole talked to PEOPLE exclusively about the new line, explaining that the collaboration works because “Pea in the Pod is such a known company for pregnant women. They carry great lines, and so when they asked me to create a line for them, I was really excited and eager to do it.”

And being pregnant herself means that Nicole is especially considerate of her customers. “You really feel like you have to change your whole wardrobe. And that’s the last thing a woman wants to go through. So I really tried to make this line to get women excited about wearing clothes.”

While Nicole admits she doesn’t always wear maternity clothes, she definitely thinks the pregnant form should be flaunted! “I think the pregnant body is beautiful, and I think you should show it off,” citing her jean cutoffs as a go-to this pregnancy.

As for what to expect in the line, think peasant tops, layering tees, flowing maxidress and braided details. Nicole may have some time left until she has her second child, but says of her newest design collection making its debut, “It feels great to see everything come to life. It’s the best feeling in the world to have your visions and dreams coming together. I’m so excited for people to see them. I just hope that people like it.”

“Nicole,” an exclusive collection for A Pea in the Pod stores on Friday, with prices ranging from $48 for tank tops to $148 to maxidresses.

I didn’t care for any of those designs – definitely not my style.

Good for her, but I would never pay $148 for a maternity dress.

Nicole looks great pregnant. I like her dresses, especially that black one.

Those are the prices at a pea in the pod, regardless of whether it’s Nicole’s design or their other lines. That’s why I couldn’t shop there – way too expensive for something I’d only get to wear for a few months. The sister store Motherhood is much more reasonably priced.

They are cute, but there is not way i’d spend that much on maternity clothes. I like Motherhood Maternity and Old navy, cheap and cute.

$148? When I was pregnant, I found great buys at Sears and Motherhood. I could get three or four outfits for $148. I like her style, it looks comfy, but the prices at that store are too high for me. I guess I’m too practical to pay that kind of money for one outfit I can only wear for 3 or 4 months.

Funny. When i was 7 moths pregnant, i just bought a pair of maternity jeans, and that was all.

I love pea in the pod clothing is so cute and comfortable. It is a little over price for my budget, but there are women out there that wouldnt mind spending all the money. My sisten in law for example that is all she wears and she thinks the prices are great. I think it depends on your budget!

I do love the clothing! Way to go Nicole!

I love maternity clothes, but A Pea in the Pod is way too expensive and the clothes aren’t that unique. Just because something is labeled maternity it doesn’t mean pregnant women should put a dent in their wallet for 9 months! Nicole Ritchie is beautiful especially when she’s wearing maternity clothes. If only her prices were more affordable, we’d have a reason to splurge and buy an entire wardrobe rather than just several pieces.

I think it looks like a great line. Not sure I would ever spend that much on maternity clothes, regardless of how nice it was.
