Diaper Dude Dude Pack: The Knapsack On My Back
![]() |
Diaper Dude paved the way for dads who are cool enough to carry a diaper bag. My husband and I take our two small boys on day trips nearly every weekend, and when we’re walking all over New York City we choose to be hands-free. I carry 15-month-old Egan on my back in my Ergo Baby Carrier and he carries the diaper bag while holding 4-year-old Finn’s hand. My innumerable tote bags just annoy him, but he loves his Diaper Dude Dude Pack ($98).The Dude Pack is not covered with Peter Rabbit or rubber duckies. It’s a subtle, gray and black backpack designed specifically for hauling baby gear. It has a separate compartment for wet stuff, built-in stroller straps on top and an outside bottle pouch that works great for sippy cups or water bottles (though I wish there were two). A sizable and well-thought-out changing station appears out of nowhere. Very MacGyver. There is even a checklist printed inside the bag so Dad’s not likely to forget the pacifier or the wipes.
The shoulder straps are padded and both of us find the bag comfortable to wear. There’s a waist strap that helps distribute the weight and keeps things from shifting around, and a grippy handle on top so you can lift the bag out easily when it’s wedged into the stroller basket.
Pros: Subtle good looks, comfy shoulder straps, nice changing station, contents are easily accessible.
Cons: We wish the stroller straps were adjustable (they are too close together for some strollers) and there were two bottle holders.
Final Verdict: The Dude Pack has replaced our well-traveled, regular old backpack and Dad and Mom both like carrying it!
