Caught Caring: Katie Holmes and the Dizzy Feet Foundation

Celebrity Baby Blog – Caught Caring

When rumors first circulated that Katie Holmes was in rehearsals for FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance, many thought it was a hoax. As it turns out, the 30-year-old actress really can dance, and even better — her upcoming spin on the dance floor will benefit the Dizzy Feet Foundation. Co-founded by Katie herself, Dizzy Feet aims to support, improve and increase access to dance education.

Katie’s performance will air at 9 p.m. July 23rd, as the show marks its 100th episode, in a tribute to Judy Garland. “I like to sing and dance, so this has been really fun,” Katie tells SYTYCD host Cat Deeley. “I think it’s important to let kids experience music and dancing and singing and the arts and also sports.”

Fame

That much is evident whenever Katie is seen accompanying daughter Suri, 3, to and from gymnastics class or the ballet.

She went on to note,

“This is the next generation, and I think it’s important to give them every opportunity to grow and discover what it is that they like.”

In addition to Katie, Dizzy Feet was founded by former American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, director Adam Shankman and Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Anne Inaba.

The organization has a threefold mission:

(1) to provide scholarships and grants to talented dancers, choreographers and teachers working at or through accredited dance studios; (2) to establish national standards for dance education and an accreditation program for dance; and (3) to develop, provide and support dance education programs for disadvantaged children by working through and with community organizations.

Suri is Katie’s daughter with husband Tom Cruise. For more information on the Dizzy Feet Foundation or to find out how you can contribute, click here.

Lansinoh Breast Pumps: Excellent Pumps For a Great Price

As a mother of two sons (2 ½ years old and 4 months old) who strongly believes in the benefits of nursing, it didn’t take long until I discovered the Lansinoh product line.

The Virginia-based company was founded 20 years ago by a breastfeeding mom and to this day focuses on nursing equipment.

No wonder I was excited to use a Lansinoh breast pump when I had my second baby.

With the first I had rented and borrowed Medela pumps and although they worked well, I wasn’t looking forward to pumping.

While it is incredibly useful if you need baby-free time with as little guilt and worries as possible, it’s not exactly a nice experience.

It also doesn’t help when the electric pump looks and sounds like a generator or when cleaning all the parts of the manual pump takes almost as long as it does going to the movies.

NASCAR Driver Matt Kenseth Welcomes Daughter Kaylin Nicola

Wave the checkered flag, they’ve crossed the finish line! NASCAR champion Matt Kenseth and his wife Katie welcomed their first child together earlier this week, the proud papa posted on his official website. Daughter Kaylin Nicola Kenseth was born on Monday, July 6th in North Carolina. While no further birth details have been released, Matt reports that “mom and baby are doing fine!”

As for newly crowned big brother Ross, Matt’s son from a previous relationship, the 16-year-old took to Twitter to announce the arrival of his baby sister. Hours after Kaylin’s birth, Ross tweeted the good news.

“It’s a girl…Everyone is really excited!”

The couple were married in December 2004. The pregnancy was announced last month, with Matt sharing that they had opted for a delivery surprise. “There aren’t many surprises left in life, so we’re going to wait to find out,” he said.

Pink Chicken: Boho-Chic Clothes for You and Your Little One

If boho-chic is your style and you love to dress your daughter in funky, retro clothes, then Pink Chicken is for you.

The vintage-inspired spring/summer collection features vibrant-colored dresses, skirts and even diaper covers for little ones (aged 12 months-8 years). And now the 100% cotton line features breezy tunics for moms! Designed by mother of two Stacey Fraser, who uses many one-of-a-kind fabrics and prints in her collection, the clothes have a funky, breezy elegance. It’s not surprising that her family’s summers on the beaches of Montauk, N.Y., influenced the line.

On a recent family occasion, my 2-year-old daughter Aria sported her paisley-print Rosa dress ($65) while I wore my matching tunic ($85). Though we’ve never worn coordinated outfits before (well, not intentionally), everyone commented on how adorable her dress was and how chic my top was. The clothing is clearly well-crafted. And because the fabric is light and airy, it’s perfect for stepping out on a hot day while still looking fashionable.

Pink Chicken is available at boutiques nationwide. Click here to find an online boutique.
