Joey McIntyre and Wife Expecting Second Son

Roger Karnbad/Celebrity Photo

There’s going to be another new kid on the block: Joey McIntyre tells PEOPLE that his wife Barrett is expecting their second child — a boy! — in December.

“I still can’t get over it,” says the singer, who is dad to 20-month-old son Griffin Thomas. “We feel so blessed.”

So far baby no. 2 has already managed to throw his parents for a loop. At first, there was a bit of confusion as to whether the family was really expanding at all. “My wife actually took the [pregnancy] test but she thought it was negative,” explained Joey. “She came out and gave me this look like, ‘No.’ Then she showed me the test and I said, ‘It’s positive! What the hell?’”

Then when the proud parents — who were convinced they were having a little girl — found out they were adding another boy to the brood, “we were shocked!” says Joey, who admits he already had his daughter’s name picked out. But they’re hardly disappointed. “It’s going to be a trip to have a couple of boys around.”

Griffin is more than ready for his new sibling, says Joey, 36, who grew up the youngest of nine kids. Along with constantly kissing his mommy’s belly, “we say to him all the time, ‘Do you want us to bring home a baby?’” Griffin’s response? “Please!”

The toddler has also inspired the singer to start a book drive through the Let’s Get This Foundation. While on the road, Joey and the rest of the New Kids have collected thousands of new children’s books and distributed them to children in need in various cities on their tour. “My wife is an avid reader and from the get-go she sat down with him and read with him. You see the importance of that,” notes Joey, who also reads Griffin some of his favorites like Good Night, Gorilla. “Then I found out there’s a lack of age appropriate books for kids, I saw a huge void and I knew our fans could step up.” He hopes hopes to reach 25,000 by the time the band wrap up their tour on July 18th.

But the big question remains: Will his family grow to include nine kids? “I think we have a deal to keep going until we have a girl,” says Joey with a laugh. “That’s what my wife says.”

Adriana Lima: 'My Life is Complete At This Moment'

Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage

In with the belly, out with the sweet tooth! Due with her first child — a delivery surprise — in mid-December, Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima is no longer craving candy treats.

“It’s funny because I used to love chocolate — I was such a chocolate lover until I got pregnant!” she laughs at a Louis Vuitton event celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Lunar Landing in New York City.

Noting that “it just doesn’t appeal to me at all,” Adriana admits she has managed to steer clear of the sweet stuff since she discovered she was expecting.

That said, the 28-year-old holds out hope that baby-on-the-way’s big debut will coincide with the return of her chocolate obsession!

“I guess that’s a good thing since it’s chocolate and it’s probably not good for the baby to eat too much sugar, but I hope I get my love of chocolate back afterwards because I really did enjoy it!”

Fortunately for Adriana, the disappearance of chocolate is a small price to pay for her newfound sense of fulfillment in life. “I feel like I’m glowing because I just — right now — I just have everything,” she explains. “My life is complete at this moment.”

According to the mama-to-be, her husband Marko Jaric shares in her excitement! Despite his model wife being “only 17 weeks” along, the proud papa-to-be, a guard for the Memphis Grizzlies, was elated to recently purchase baby’s first stroller.

“He was telling me that he can’t wait to push the stroller around and how he’s going to be the proudest dad in the whole world.”

Roger Federer Saving Himself for Diaper Duty

Bauer Griffin

Although he remained tight-lipped during the run up to his historic win at Wimbledon last week, after the match Roger Federer was much more forthcoming about his upcoming foray into fatherhood. The 27-year-old World No. 1  revealed that he has “not yet changed a nappy,” joking, “I’ve been saving myself.” Fortunately, he has friends in high places who are more than willing to lend their expertise!

“I have to practice. I have to go and ask for some advice from some people. Tiger Woods and I spoke about it a bit. He said it would be fine, but exciting, different. It’s good and nice.”

Now that the tournament is over Roger will return to his native Switzerland where wife Mirka Vavrinec Federer will deliver their first child — a boy — in early August. “It’s now my turn to support her back home as much as I can,” he notes. From the sound of things, their stay won’t be long. “I can’t just be at home for the next six months,” he explained. “Mirka wouldn’t let me. She wants to see me play and I want to be with her on the tour instead of just sitting at home. That is not life for me.” Roger acknowledged, however, that life will likely never be the same.

“With fatherhood and the baby maybe I’ll get up earlier for practice, do things a bit different and not be so crazy as a professional.”

“I had an amazing weekend: Zev actually went into the ocean for the first time at a friend’s birthday party and I did not have cake. Both were milestones!!!! Okay, I had a bite of cake – but one bite of yummy red velvet cake won’t make a difference, and it was worth it!”

Paz Vega Tries to Keep Her Pregnancies Peaceful

Bauer Griffin

Despite her Hollywood star status, Paz Vega places herself among all the other working mothers who face the daily struggles of balancing both their careers while still tending to their families. Already mom to 2-year-old Orson and due any minute with her second child — a girl — the actress tells People en Español she is prepared to take it all in stride.

“I suppose I’ll continue working like all the other women who work and have children, but I will have to be much more organized and I will probably have to be more selective in what I choose to do.”

In the final stretch of her pregnancy, Paz admits part of the reason the long nine months pass quickly for her may be due to the fact that she often forgets she is actually pregnant! “The truth is, I don’t even realize it, only because I see myself in the mirror and say, ‘Ash!’” she says. “I only notice it in my stomach and I love being pregnant, it’s a part that, as a woman, personally, brings me satisfaction.”

Advising women to think positively, which in turn will help ease any fears that accompany a pregnancy — including weight gain — the Spanglish actress is all about embracing the unique experience as a whole. “I try to be calm and to enjoy the pregnancy because it’s something that happens to you two or three times in life and [they're] the most beautiful changes your body can give you,” she states. “I like to see myself pregnant, I like to see the roundness pregnancy gives you, those curves are beautiful. You have to always feel like you’re beautiful and that helps you have a healthy pregnancy.”

To that end, when it comes to immediately bouncing back after baby, the 33-year-old is not succumbing to peer pressure. “[Hollywood] can be a little absurd because there’s people who lose the weight in a year, others in a month, it all varies,” she explains. That said, according to the expectant mama, the sheer fact of carrying a baby should not give women the green light to overindulge themselves.

“It’s better to take care of yourself while you’re pregnant — just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you can give into a thousand cravings a day, that can’t be. On the contrary, you should take care of yourself more than ever during your pregnancy.”

Orson and baby-on-the-way are Paz’s children with husband Orson Salazar.

Maggie Gyllenhaal: 'It's Hard to Be a Mom'

Splash News Online

Life with a toddler can be challenging — to say the least! — and it has given Maggie Gyllenhaal, mom to 2 ½-year-old Ramona, a whole new perspective on parents in general. “I’ve learned that you cannot judge the way another person is raising their kid,” she tells PARADE. “Everybody is just doing the best they can.”

“It’s hard to be a mom. I can relate to the anxieties of having other people tell you what to do.”

In the new film Away We Go, the 31-year-old actress portrays a mom who takes attachment parenting to the extreme. Some aspects of the role hit home for Maggie, but others were a stretch. “Shortly before my daughter was born, I had a fantasy that everything was going to be organic and cloth diapers,” she recalls. “I think a lot of people are that way.” Once Ramona arrived, Maggie says she quickly learned that “in the real world” her fantasies presented “complications.” Her character — who nurses a 4-year-old and practices a family bed –  ”is really far out when it comes to her ideas of parenting,” Maggie notes. “I’ve never gone that far.” Although the subject matter was at times foreign, portraying a mom on screen was not. “I don’t know if I could have done the movie if I wasn’t a mother,” Maggie says.

“I had to comfort a crying 11-month-old baby. If I hadn’t been able to pull it off, we would have wasted a lot of film time. So I thought, ‘Thank God, I know what to do.’ Then I’d go home to my own baby daughter. So I felt like I was just doing non-stop mothering.”

Raising Ramona with husband Peter Sarsgaard in New York City meant finding a stroller that worked for the couple, and fortunately Maggie’s line of work meant they had plenty of options to choose from. “We were sent all sorts of strollers by these stroller companies because that’s one of the perks of being an actor,” Maggie shares. “And so we kind of tried all of them and it was sort of like picking out your first car.” Noting that “you can’t function without a stroller in New York,” Maggie says she’s now a pro at mothering in the big city.

“We have one that is lightweight and easy to fold. I’m good with a stroller, like those moms who know how to click ‘em and close ‘em just before they jump on the subway.”

The decision to return to work after Ramona’s birth was one Maggie found “very difficult,” but some projects were too good to pass up. The blockbuster The Dark Knight was easy to make because “there’s a lot of just sitting around in your trailer,” according to Maggie, and so mother and daughter had plenty of time together. Away We Go, a smaller budget film directed by Sam Mendes, was more challenging. “When you’re doing a tiny indie film, you’re working so hard you just don’t have any time,” Maggie explains. “You work a lot harder.”

Away We Go is in theaters now.
