Ioan Gruffudd Feels Fantastic About Fatherhood

Splash News Online

Mr. Fantastic is feeling pretty fabulous about his father-to-be abilities.

“It’s been one long summer because my wife is pregnant, expecting in September,” Fantastic Four actor Ioan Gruffudd told PEOPLE at the Celeritas gallery show in West Hollywood, a benefit for Riders for Health.

“I have basically been the best husband in the world,” he says – “or trying to be.”

During Alice Evans‘ pregnancy the actor, 35, says his role has changed many times. “You go from being lover to husband, lackey, taxi driver. You just have to have so many caps on. Listen, it’s a blessing that I am here, at home not working, being able to be there for her.”

Still, “it’s been tough. I’m sure we have no idea what we are heading into. But we both love each other so much and really hope that we will create an environment of love and happiness.”

Ioan and Alice, 37, know the sex of the baby and have told family and friends but are keeping that detail secret from the public.

And as for a name? “We have a handful,” he says. “But I think we are going to wait until the baby arrives.”

Steal That Style: Nahla and Ava's Skirted Swimsuits

Celebrity Baby Blog – Steal That Style

Summertime and the livin’ is easy! Bring on the beach, bring on the sand, and bring on the — skirted — bathing suits. Adding a little extra flair to both the traditional one-piece swimsuit and the bikini is the popular ruffled skirt that sits right at baby girl’s hips.

Just last week, hearts were melting as little Nahla Ariela Aubry splashed in the surf while in Miami, Florida with mom, actress Halle Berry and dad, model Gabriel Aubry. While Halle kept her suit under wraps by opting for a tank dress, 16-month-old Nahla showed off her adorable foam green one-piece suit, complete with a ruffled skirt!

At the start of the summer season, Ava Jackman, along with her brother Oscar, kept cool on a hot day in New York City by running through a sprinkler at a local park. The 4-year-old was spotted wearing a cute one-piece floral skirted bathing suit while enjoying a popsicle courtesy of her dad, actor Hugh Jackman.

So late in the season, purchasing swimsuits can either be a great way to plan for the future while saving some cash or a complete disaster! For parents who are able to think ahead to next year, now is the time to take advantage of some great deals as the summer winds down. That said, waiting to buy a child’s bathing suit the week before the family heads out on an August vacation will undoubtedly leave the buyer short on options.

Fisher-Price Turbo Fill Blasters: Water Play Is a Blast!

I’m not big on gun play, but I do know how much my 3 ½-year-old son, Finn loves to get soaking wet. Fisher-Price’s Turbo Fill Blasters ($35 for one gun, $50 for two) comes with a refill station that hooks to the garden hose.

Simply click the handle of the spray gun into the base and it refills in just a few seconds. Pull the trigger (there’s no pumping) and it sprays 30 feet for about 15 seconds before it’s empty.

It doesn’t spray so hard that it hurts when it hits you, and it is so easy to operate that Finn can spray it and refill it with no help. They are expensive but they really work well.

My only tip… get the one with two guns or you have no way to retaliate!

Ana Ortiz Wants Baby No. 2 'Relatively Soon'

Robert Pitts/Landov

Doctors say that an expectant mom will often crave what her body needs, and for Ana Ortiz those cravings translated into a temporary suspension of her vegetarian diet. “It has been much more difficult,” the 38-year-old actress conceded to Cookie magazine shortly before delivering daughter Paloma Louise, 2 ½-weeks, “because I have really been craving meat.” When she did succumb, Ana said she would stick to local, grass-fed, organic meats in an effort to stay “as healthy as possible.” Describing herself as a ”really nervous” expectant mom, Ana nonetheless said — at the time! — she was eager to do it all again.

“Kind of, yeah. I know that sounds weird, and everyone’s like, ‘Oh, yeah. You say that now, but wait until…’ But, yeah, I do want to have another kid, probably relatively soon — not to sound crass — but just to get it out of the way.”

If she needs a celebrity mom role model, Ana can look no further than Vanessa Williams. Echoing earlier sentiments, Ana said that her good friend and Ugly Betty co-star had given her “tons” of advice that she planned to follow to the letter. “She’s constantly on the hustle,” Ana noted, “and her kids are incredible.”

“They’re respectful and smart and kind. So, you know, you see that, and it’s like, ‘Okay, this is possible. This can be done.’ So basically I follow her around and take notes.”

Anna went on to say that she wanted baby girl to have a Spanish name “with flavor,” and she and husband Noah Lebenzon accomplished just that with Paloma. Although she is also Irish, Ana says that her Puerto Rican heritage is “much closer” to her heart, because her mother is just fourth generation Irish-American. Growing up, Ana and her family made annual trips to Puerto Rico in the summer — and it’s a tradition she intends to continue with her daughter. She adds,

“With my family, there’s no way the baby will be able to escape her Puerto Rican heritage.”
