David Beckham Recalls His Family's 'Toughest Time'

Mike Disciullo/Bauer Griffin

For soccer star David Beckham, the years spent playing for Manchester United and Real Madrid represented the pinnacle of his career. Privately, however, those years took their toll.

“Professionally, it was an amazing time,” the 34-year-old father-of-three said during a Wednesday appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly, “but on the family side, it was probably the toughest time since we had children.” Brooklyn Joseph, 10, Romeo James, 6 ½, and Cruz David, 4 — David’s sons with wife Victoria Beckham — have happily enjoyed more face time with their dad since their family of five moved to California in 2007, where David now plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

“Living in LA has been incredible. I’d been spending a lot of time apart from the children and I hate being away from them for an hour, let alone the 6 ½-months I was away [before].”

David adds that he and Victoria “love making time for each other,” but their children remain their priority. “Our lives revolve around our children,” he said.

Cam'ron Regrets Putting Son on Album Cover

James Devaney/WireImage

When Cam’ron (real name Cameron Giles) featured his young son on the cover of his 2002 album Come Home With Me, he caught some serious heat from mom – and the 33-year-old rapper and actor says he now sees her point. “He had to change schools two or three times,” Cam’ron explains to MTV. “I had to fall back from letting him be on the camera. I feel her for that. It’s his safety first before anything. I feel her for that.” Regardless of where his career takes him, Cam’ron says that he spends each and every weekend with his son.

“If I’m on the West Coast, he’ll come fly and be with me. If I’m on the East Coast, I get my son every weekend. It doesn’t matter where I’m at – show, no show, whatever. Break or no break. I have my son every summer and every weekend while he’s in school. I love having my son in my life.”

Noting that many men in the hip-hop community endured a “fatherless childhood,” Cam’ron feels that “You always gotta take advantage when you can spend time with your kids.” Describing his son as ”a nerd,” Cam’ron is quick to clarify “that’s a good thing — [he's] a genius at school,” consistently scoring “in the 90s and 100s” on his exams.

“I don’t think he got a score lower than 94 ever. He’s in third grade, so it’s a beautiful thing.”

The music bug hasn’t bitten his son yet, who for now is much more a fan of dad’s acting career. “I got pulled over for a traffic ticket…I was speeding or whatever,” Cam’ron explains. “He was in the car. He was so nervous, he was like, ‘Why are the cops messing with you? They don’t know you’re a movie star?’ I was like, ‘Nah, it’s just a ticket, don’t worry about it.’”

“That kinda shocked me, too, because he doesn’t mention the music. He reads and watches the DVDs. Right now, I’mma keep it real. He’s Scooby-Dooed out. I appreciate that. Scooby-Doo been rocking for about 40 years. He just started getting into video games. Right now, it’s PlayStation, Guitar Hero and his Scooby-Doo DVDs.”

Mayim Bialik Keeps Her Days as Blossom a Secret From Her Son For Now

Chris Weeks/WireImage

For young children, separating fact from fiction when it comes to television and movies can oftentimes be a difficult concept for their developing minds to comprehend; add their parents in the leading roles and the utter confusion is completely understandable. Fortunately, for actress Mayim Bialik — who portrayed Blossom on the 90s sitcom — her holistic approach to parenting has kept her 3 ½ -year-old son Miles in the dark as to her television career! “He does not watch television and he does not know that I was on TV,” she tells PARADE.

“He knows that I have meetings that are sometimes early in the morning. He knows that there are scripts, but I don’t think he’s put it together.”

While the family opts out of television time, Mayim admits that Miles has managed to catch “a couple of cartoons or sports when we’ve been at friends’ houses,” but has not grasped the concept of acting as of yet. “I don’t know if he understands the whole people pretending to be someone else with a script, so it’s kind of funny,” she says.

Mayim and her husband Michael are also parents to 11-month-old Fred. Next up for the actress is a role on The Secret Life of the American Teenager as a school guidance counselor.

KidSwitch: The First One To Bed Turns Out The Lights

KidSwitch ($10) is an ingenious gadget invented by a dad whose toddler fell when she was climbing up to reach the light switch.

Fortunately, she wasn’t seriously hurt and the incident gave Daddy an idea.

Made from glow-in-the-dark plastic, the KidSwitch fastens to the switch plate with a screwdriver.

Little ones just pull on the cute, crescent-moon-shaped handle and flip the switch.

There’s no more climbing precarious ladders made from toys and furniture!
