UPDATE: BabySwede LLC and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have issued a voluntary safety recall of this product, after small metal pieces were found in the padded section of the Babysitter’s fabric seat. Though no incidents or injuries related to the pieces have been reported, BabyBjorn received notice from two consumers in Japan in relation to the metal, and found pieces in several other models they tested, too. Consumers should stop using the product and contact BabySwede LLC at 1-866-424-0200 for instructions on returning the product for inspection. They can also visit babyswede.com for details.

Like a bouncy seat without the bells, whistles and sing along tunes, the BabyBjorn Babysitter Balance Air ($140-190) is cool looking seat for babies ages newborn to two.

Made with the same mesh fabric as their Baby Carrier Air and Baby Carrier Synergy, the fabric the baby is on is breathable, machine-washable, easy to keep clean and dries quickly.

Cozy Cover

Designed with the help of pediatricians, what sets this baby seat apart from the rest is its simplicity. It’s designed to allow a baby to make simple movements and enjoy the motion of rocking or bouncing without the added distractions of mobiles, toys or music. Babies can baby learn motor skills in a more natural environment without the battery-powered vibrators.

My 8-month-old loves this chair and often sits in it for feedings or just to hang out while I do some dishes.  She can entertain herself quite well without the typical deluge of toys.  And it looks quite nice in the home!

There are three reclining settings designed for play, rest or sleep so you can decide which level best suits your child.

The original version of the Babysitter Balance is available in black and silver, brown and beige, dark blue and blue and black and red. There are two accessories that you can purchase for the Babysitter Balance — the Cozy Cover ($70) to keep baby warm and a Wooden Toy bar ($40) that attaches for additional amusement.
