Rachel Weisz Grateful for Anonymity in New York City

Being a small fish in a big pond suits Rachel Weisz just fine. While the paparazzi are content to chase after her British compatriot Kate Winslet, the 39 -year-old actress says she’s been able to enjoy relative anonymity in New York City with partner Darren Aronofsky and their 3-year-old son Henry Chance. “I have never had a problem, except maybe briefly when I won the Oscar and gave birth to Henry in quick succession,” she tells the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK. “Then suddenly everyone was interested.”

Although “having those lenses coming up towards you when you’re holding this little bundle in your arms is frightening,” Rachel says that such instances were few and far between. “Sometimes the paparazzi, on the lookout for Tom Cruise, who lives nearby, trickle onto my street, take a few pictures of me and disappear,” she concedes. “But I never feel hounded.”

“I am really not on that level of fame. I go on the subway. I walk Henry to school.”

Rachel’s next film The Lovely Bones is slated for a December 2009 release.

I’m sure Tom probably owns property in New York which he stays at when he’s in town. Perhaps that was what she was referring to.

Oh, good for her she can have some anonymity and isn’t constantly followed by paparazzi, that must be crazy and really scary when there’s a little baby with you!

I’m glad Henry can have a pretty normal life, not being followed by crazy guys with huge cameras all the time, desperatly trying to take a picture of him!

To me she seems to have a really good balance. She’s a great actress who still manages to have a private life. That can’t be an easy thing to do.
