Hasbro Littlest Pet Shop Playful Paws Pet Daycare: Packs Big Fun

07/12/2009 at 10:00 AM ET

With nooks, crannies and fun activities galore for one adorable pet, the Littlest Pet Shop Playful Paws Pet Daycare Center ($25) from Hasbro is a big, portable hit at our house – and at our friends’ houses, too ($23).  There’s a jungle gym with a slide and a basket swing and lots of little corners to tuck your pet into for sleeping, grooming or just a quick look out the window.

We like that it has a handle and closes up quickly and easily to keep all the pieces in one place for fast clean up as well as playtime fun when we’re visiting family and friends.  And the pink and purple elevator is working just as well as the day we opened it even though it has taken playful pets (and other items) up and down, up and down literally thousands of times.

While my 4-year-old daughter was content to play with the pet that came with the daycare, my 1-year-old son tried it out as a dump truck, loading it with sand and rocks from our playground. Happily, once it was emptied and wiped off, it successfully returned to its original operations as the spa and play area it was meant to be.  Simply put:  it’s easy to clean and stands up to toddler abuse.

Alicia, Austin mom of a blended family of six: a rough-and-tumble 1-year-old boy; a 4-year-old princess-obsessed girl; three teenaged girls and a son heading off to college in the fall, looks for quality gear that makes life easier and ups the family fun quotient

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
