That doesn’t sound inappropriate or “sick” to me! It sounds like a lovely teacher who was taking part in imaginary play with their students! I wish more teachers played on the playground, rather than stand around with their whistle just watching. These kids are in 4th grade, 9 years old, and for the most part are incredibly innocent. I think the parents were the ones being inappropriate, tying adult concepts to children’s play and games.

I agree, I think the teacher thing was blown out of proportion. However, judging by the costumes they wore, was this planned in advance? Playing make-believe with kids on the playground is a WONDERFUL thing for teachers to do, IMO. Planning out a “wedding” way in advance with costumes brought in from home does come off as being a little more weird.

If this is the whole story – then so ridiculous! As an educator, I know that stories like these help contribute to the downfall of teaching. We are too scared to do so many things!
