Baby on the Way for NASCAR Driver Matt Kenseth

Jeffrey Ufberg/WireImage

There’s another NASCAR baby on the way — one that’s due to arrive “pretty soon.” Driver Matt Kenseth and his wife Katie are expecting their first child together in July. “We’ll find out when you guys do, I guess,” Matt laughs about their choice of a delivery surprise. “Actually, I hope I’ll know a little while before you guys do.”

“There aren’t many surprises left in life, so we’re going to wait to find out. We talked about it [and] we don’t really want to find out. Neither of us really cares if it’s a girl or a boy. If it’s healthy, that’s all we really care about.”

The Daytona 500 winner knows that he “can’t really control when the baby comes that much, so I’m just going to kind of play it by ear.” He hopes the baby will makes his or her debut on a Monday, rather than a race day because “I haven’t made any plans [for a relief driver] yet.”

Matt, 37, and Katie were married December 4, 2000. The new baby will join Matt’s 16-year-old son, Ross, from a previous relationship.

Win Rockin’ Vegas-Style Baby Gear as seen in The Hangover! (A $406 Value)

Warner Brother’s summer blockbuster The Hangover starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zack Galifianakis may involve three men and a baby but this film is far from family friendly! Raking in $45 million at the box office opening weekend, the film delivers non-stop laughs and thanks to its youngest star, it also showcases some rocking Vegas-style baby gear.

Now you have a chance to grab that very same gear for your little swinger. We’re giving away a jackpot that includes:

  • Baby Kaed’s Shanti Diaper bag in Vegas Gold (a $138 value)
  • Crib Rock’s Big Foot bodysuit or t-shirt, 6-12 months (a $30 value)
  • Max Daniel’s baby blanket in powder blue chenille and reversible zebra print (a $68 value)
  • a pair of Sweet Shoes Big Wave Slip Ons in Teal/Gray, choose from sizes 0-6, 6-12, 12-18, 18-24 months (a $30 value)
  • Chic Papoose’s Celeste Pouch Asian Dragon print baby sling (a $68 value)
  • and six packages of Huggies Pure & Natural disposable diapers (a $72 value)

While these items have long been celebrity baby favorites, this was the film debut for most of the brands. Crib Rock’s Big Foot bodysuit is worn by the baby throughout the film and he’s often seen with his Max Daniel Blanket in tow. The other baby gear can be seen in the apartment of Jade (played by Heather Graham) in the comical mother and son reunion scene. Odds are strong; the lucky recipient of this baby gear won’t need to go to Vegas to feel like a Winner!

Nia Vardalos on the Phone Call That Changed Everything

ABC

Losing 40 pounds over two years ago left 46-year-old Nia Vardalos feeling great. “I have so much more energy now,” she notes in an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, and the timing couldn’t have been better. Shortly thereafter, Nia welcomed a daughter via adoption. “I was alone in my house because my husband [Ian Gomez] was shooting a movie,” she recalls. “The phone rang and nothing came up on Caller ID. I was curious because usually it’s just my mother or sister calling.”

“It was a social worker saying, ‘Guess what? You’ve been matched.’ So there I was alone and my mind was racing. I couldn’t call Ian because he was on set. I kept texting him saying, ‘Are you finished yet?’”

When Ian finally returned the call, he received the good news; Nia says there was momentary silence, and then lots of tears from the proud new parents. “I begged him to drive carefully because this dream of our little family was so in my mind,” she explains. “I just wanted everyone to be safe.” After a sleepless night the couple — who are “very open” to the possibility of adopting again – began preparing to welcome home their daughter, now almost 4-years-old. Calling herself “the original Recessionista,” Nia says she is “trying to be fiscally responsible with little-girl outfits.” To that end, for Easter she purchased her daughter “the fluffiest white dress” from a discount store for under $10. “It was so cute, and I was practically giddy that I was buying my baby an Easter dress,” she recalls.

Nia adds that she’s hopeful her daughter will someday meet her birth mother.

“I hope in the years to come she will meet the woman who gave birth to her. I want her to have everything. Ian and I just look at each other and say, ‘We’re so lucky.’”

Lands End Little Tripper Diaper Bag: Travel Light and Come Prepared!

Finding the perfect diaper bag is not an easy task, especially when it will be carried by dad as much as mom. The Little Tripper Diaper Bag by Lands End ($24.50) is a trendy black (or blue) messenger bag meets a practical, hold-all diaper tote.

Enough room in the main pocket for diapers, wipes, snacks, and accessories, this versatile bag has a divided front zipper pouch so that you can easily find your cell phone and keys. It also has two exterior pockets for holding bottles or jarred food and a cushioned changing pad.

The perfect baby shower gift, I bought it for a friend with twins and she uses it every day — as do I! Did I mention that it is light as a feather and stain-proof? You can’t beat it, especially for the price.

The Essential Breastfeeding Log: A Feedings Tracker and Baby-Care Organizer for Nursing Moms

When my baby girl was first born I tracked every single feeding and poop in a little composition notebook for a good five weeks.

Something about being able to keep track of whatever entered or exited her body made me feel a little more in control.

Such is the premise of a new book, The Essential Breastfeeding Log, by Suzanne Schlosberg and Sarah Bowen Shea ($15).
