David Letterman Dishes on Harry's Wedding Day Confusion

John P. Filo/CBS

When David Letterman married Regina Letterman in March, it was no doubt a special moment for the longtime couple. What made the occasion “kind of fun,” however, was the presence of a very special guest — their son Harry Joseph, 5 ½. “He though I was getting my drivers license, because when you get there there is a lot of ‘Okay, sign this. Okay, fine. Okay, good. Okay, here you are,’” David quipped to guest Julia Roberts during her recent appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. “It was a nice day.”

But not one without incident! David had prepped Harry that the “it would all be over by 3 p.m.,” but the ceremony was delayed when the family’s truck became stuck in the mud on the way to the courthouse. “Now he’s late and he knows he’s late, and he throws a little fit in the car,” David recalled. “So twice on the way to getting married I had to stop the car and do one of those…” Julia then interjected with a shaking motion, prompting Dave to laugh. He added,

“It wasn’t funny at the time, but looking back on it…It was me, it was my son, it was Regina and it was the justice of the peace. And that was it. It’s legal. I mean, that’s the most important thing, right?”

Harry is the first child for both David and Regina, who began dating in 1986.

Darryl Worley 'So Happy' With Wife and Daughter

Bryan Bedder/Getty

The speed and ease with which a new baby infiltrates every aspect of their parents lives can catch some off-guard, and for Darryl Worley, life with baby is readily apparent on his new album. Sounds Like Life features several songs inspired by daughter Savannah Gail, 14 months, and wife Kimberly – and the 44-year-old country crooner makes no apologies.

“I didn’t want people to think I was trying to overload this project with songs about my wife and baby and make it something it shouldn’t be,” he admits. “But [these songs] found their way into my head and my heart because that’s where I’m at right now, and I’ve never written stuff like that before so I’m happy.”

He’s also stretched to his limits! Darryl admits that promoting the album has often pulled him away from the wife and daughter who inspired the songs in the first place. “We’re working really hard with this single to get it back up the charts and to get things rolling,” he says.

“We’re not going to let up on it, but I wouldn’t sit here and say it hasn’t stressed my family life some. I’m just going to make it work…My wife has the same mindset. Is every day hunky dory and just like a fairy tale? No. But the fact that we are together and love each other the way we do is just like a fairy tale, and we don’t intend to let that go.”

Kimberly is understanding that “this business is in your blood,” Darryl notes. “My wife said, ‘You ain’t never going to give this up. You couldn’t if you wanted to.’”

Balance Bike Roundup: Three Great Options

Balance bikes are a great toy to help kids transition from a trike to a bike. They give small kids the feel of a real bike and teach the balance and coordination required to ride one. My hope is that, when the time comes, we’ll be able to transition to a pedal bike without using training wheels. Maybe next summer!

Whether your taste goes to the old-school, wooden bike for your kid or a shiny, silver model, we’ve found several great pedal-less bikes that fit the bill.

Tori Spelling on Her Kids: Sibling Love is Strong

Albert Michael/Startraks

Nothing but sibling love for the Spelling-McDermott kids! In a new interview with iVillage, Tori Spelling admits that while the relationship between son Liam Aaron and daughter Stella Doreen took a bit of work, the pair now delight in each other’s company. “He actually went from ignoring her to kissing her and trying to tickle her,” she says, citing their bond as a result of the toddler being included in what the family dubbed “the Stella process” — introducing baby girl to their household.

The children’s apparent love for each other shines through during their favorite time of the day: bath time! While 1-year-old Stella enjoys making a big splash in the tub, 2-year-old Liam turns to his toys for some added fun. “He has a rubber shark he swims around the tub,” Tori shares. However, at the end of the day, nothing quite compares to having a water buddy.

“Sometimes we bathe them together and they love that. Liam says, ‘Bathe buggy’ and tries to wash Stella with his washcloth.”

Once the two are settled in their beds and fast asleep — Liam opts for Goodnight Moon and his sound machine, while Stella prefers her bottle and a song from mom — Tori and her husband Dean McDermott finally have time for themselves. That said, according to the 36-year-old actress, despite their busy schedules, the two manage to keep the romance alive during the day as well! “We keep the romance going by always physically and romantically checking in with each other,” she explains.

“We make eye contact throughout the day and give each other kisses and hugs in between baby wrangling.”
