This is EXACTLY what I am talking about. My belief is that being pregnant is more than just a “medical condition.” I am not trying to take away anything from mothers or what they go through during pregnancy, but it strikes me as awfully devisive to say only women can say that they’re “pregnant” just because of the biology involved.

Based on your logic, if a man was the sole breadwinner in his family, the wife could not consider their joint savings her own, nor could she call their house “hers” because she does not know the ordeal or earning the money. Or even further, that parents can’t call adoptees their own children.

Let’s stop being so petty and preoccupied with symantics and biological processes and look at pregnancy as a shared expereience between the parents.

This was a woman who said “We’re pregnant,” not a man. This has nothing to do with whether someone’s a deadbeat dad or emotionally invested or not. Pregnancy is a medical condition that only happens to females.

Yes, men get women pregnant. That doesn’t change the fact that only women get pregnant and not men. I think men should be involved with their partners’ pregnancies. That still doesn’t mean the men are pregnant themselves. If the couple want to convey that they are both involved with the pregnancy, then they can say “We’re expecting a baby together.” “We’re pregnant” was funny and cute the first time someone said it, but now it’s old.
