Graco Blossom 4-in-1 Seating System: The High Chair That Changes with Your Family

06/26/2009 at 10:00 AM ET

Mealtime just got a whole lot easier — whether you have one child or several — with the introduction of the new Graco Blossom 4-in-1 Seating System ($180-190).

What starts out as a high chair morphs into a solution for your whole family with seating options for infants, toddlers and young kids that work at the house and on the go.

It can be used as your baby grows or as your family grows because the options include seating for more than one child at a time.

The four parts of this feeding system include a high chair, an infant feeding booster, a toddler booster and a youth chair. Like most families, our needs are always changing: we have more than one child who needs a little extra boost at meals and snack times — it works for us during art time as well, when we need a good surface for making crafts, coloring and painting. We’ve used this system to feed and entertain different kiddos at once — a friend’s infant sat in the cushy main chair with its soft, beige leather using the red and chocolate booster for head support, while my one-year-old sat in the toddler booster. Then, when our guests left, it was simple to just pull out the removable infant booster so the chair went back to working for our toddler.

My initial concern was that a chair that does so much would be complicated to use, but I was happy to discover that it’s easy to manipulate and change for the needs of each child using it. The toddler booster unsnaps from the main high chair with the push of a button; we use this feature repeatedly to take to restaurants and use on other dining room chairs. The three-position recline also just takes one touch of a button to move between positions. Height on the chair can be changed into six different levels. And the system’s sleek design is easy to wipe clean.

The removable, hard plastic tray is perfect for the dishwasher and is easy to remove with just one hand (a real challenge with other chairs as we moms are often wrangling a squirming child) and I was really happy with how easy the tray slides in and out and snaps into place. This one seems to have been designed with a family in mind and just may be the only high chair you will ever have to buy. You can use this chair as your child grows and with more than one child in the family — it comes with a separate booster for your toddler to use at the same time as an infant — and looks good at the same time.

Currently available in three fashions — red-chocolate-beige Bombay at Babies R Us only, aqua-chocolate-beige Townsend at Walmart and Amazon only and orange-chocolate-beige Sachi at independent retailers and online only — the system has a weight limit of 50 lbs, with the exception of the booster which is 80 lbs.

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
