The Watts-Schreibers Go Green – in Israel!

06/16/2009 at 02:00 PM ET

Actors Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts — along with sons Alexander ‘Sasha’ Pete, 22 months, and Samuel Kai, 6 months — left the Big Apple behind and visited Israel for a few days on a family trip. Arriving in Tel Aviv on Sunday, the foursome spent the afternoon planting a tree at Jewish National Fund Park in the Galilee.

OMG THIS CHILD IS VERY SERIOUS

kai on

ooh, what a treat. Cute!

Christina Bledsoe on

They make a really cute family.

Ryo on

That’s it – this is my fav. celebrity family.

alice jane on

Sasha is so cute! He’s got to be the world’s sweetest kid.

Just wondering, were Naomi and Liev this shy about showing Sasha when he was as young as Kai is? I’m sure they’ll let him be photographed when they’re ready (and when he’s ready), but I can’t remember if there were ever pictures of Sasha as a baby or if he didn’t start being photographed until he was a bit older.

mp on

I’m with alice jane — I’d like to see Sammy. I understand sheltering him from the Israeli sun, but can’t we have a peek at his face?

We have a photo of him for tomorrow!

babyboopie on

Sasha and Honor should get together when they’re much older, they’d make a great looking (albeit serious) couple! Seriously, Sasha is beautiful, and I cannot wait to see Sammy tomorrow! And is Liev jewish? Or Naomi?

Ruth on

It’s good to see the Watts/Schreibers and I too can’t wait to see Sammy.

Jackie on

Once again, this cutie does not fail to disappoint! He just gets cuter and cuter each time I see him! I would like to see a picture of baby Samuel too!
By the way, babyboopie, I believe Liev is Jewish (his relatives are from eastern Europe or the Russia area, and the name Alexander has either Russian or Greek origins), although I don’t know for one hundred percent.

Lauren on

They were nowhere near as protective of Sasha as they are of Kai. There have been clear as day shots of Sasha since he was two weeks old. Meanwhile, Kai’s six months and we’ve seen only two faraway shots of him. Hopefully the one for tomorrow is a clear shot of his face; I’m curious to see him for sure. Hopefully they had fun and were safe in Israel.

Sasha is one of my favorite celeb babies. I think he is just too cute. Spitting image of his mother.

mazzie on

cutest blond kid ever – bar shiloh!
what’s the deal though? is mum or dad jewish?

SB on

i dont want to start any debates or whatever but you do not need to be jewish to visit israel…although i can be baised sometimes, i think israel is one of the most beautiful and interesting places to see. i recommend it to be a destination spot on everyone’s list!! i spent 6 months there last year and im counting the days til i return!!

sasha and the whole family are beautiful, im glad israel can at least be seen in a positive light for a change!! congrats to this family for visiting a place so many would not dare go because of ‘reports’!!!

TV on

Liev is the one that Jewish. Very apparent by his first and last name. I believe that Naomi Watts is Catholic since she has been spotted a few times coming out of church with Nicole Kidman in Australia before going their separate ways over the last three years.

Lily on

Liev Schreiber is Jewish.

Emma on

I might be out of line here from an American point of view…. but my first reaction was: taking your toddler to Israel???? That’s dangerous!! Here in Europe, Israel isn’t exactly perceived as an ideal destination for a family holdiday…

Y on

Israel is not dangerous as everyone makes it out to be. I lived there for 7.5 years and both of my children were born there.
In my opinion, it is a lot scarier living in the U.S. where people are killed in drive by shootings, mugged, held at gunpoint. These are things that don’t happen in Israel very often.

Sophie on

He is such a beautiful little child and they make such a beautiful couple, I hope they have a lovely holiday they seem to be enjoying themselves.

Emma I’m from Europe and i recently came back from a holiday in Israel. It is a lot safer than the media likes to make it seem (so long as you avoid certain areas there really is no problem). And I agree with SB, Israel is one of the most beautiful places and fascinating places you could visit, I always enjoy my time there and I can’t wait to visit again.

anna on

I completely agree with ‘Y’. i am British and have lived in Israel for over 10 years. My daughter was born here. Israel is far less dangerous then the media reports if you stay away from certain areas and USA sounds/ seems more dangerous. Plus it’s a beautiful/ hot country and thanks to the Watts/Schreibers for coming here with their 2 small kids.

Laurie on

I agree, Israel is not as dangerous as the media makes it sound. It is a beautiful country with wonderful people. I fell in love with the country on my visit there. I have no problem with the idea of taking my children (regardless of age) there, either to live or visit.

It is wonderful for Liev & Naomi to take their boys to a typically non-celebrity visited country on holiday. They did not do it for publicity, they are a typical family and look to be enjoying themselves.

Manon on

Sasha is so serious. Nothing wrong with that, mind you!

Funny but Honor is serious in a very enquiring looking way to me and Sasha looks bewildered.

Anna on

Little Sasha is so cute!

It’s nice to see Israel getting some positive attention. :)

kim on

God when people are going to understand that israel is not gaza!!!
i am jewish and i have a family there i wish people could see the real israel and not what you see on the news.

FC on

That last photo of Liev and Sasha is sweet. I love how Liev is looking at Sasha, who is busy studying everything around him. Nice father-son moment captured there. :)

niman from israel on

Liev is Jewish. But the family is so cute. I saw a close up pic of Naomi and Kai he looks like Sasha, he is a very cute boy. Also every country has it dangerous parts and its problems, its up to each individual person where they want to visit.

jene on

I live in the US and I have never been shot at or experienced any thing such as Y mentioned. European media exaggerate the violence in America. Look at facts and statistics available and compare European crime and American crime and you will be surprised.

Lovely family and what a wonderful event.

Carol on

Liev is half-Jewish and half-Catholic. He was raised in his mother’s Jewish faith. I don’t know what religion Naomi is.

Allison on

carol..if he was raised jewish, he is jewish. not half jewish, half catholic. do you mean that his father is catholic? and him and his mother are jewish?

babies born to a jewish woman are considered jewish in the jewish faith.

would love to take my kids to israel..looks amazing.
