Chicco Trevi Twin Stroller: A Double Suitable for Newborns, Older Children

06/11/2009 at 10:00 AM ET

Chicco‘s new Trevi Twin Stroller ($180) is a side-by-side double stroller that weighs only 23 lbs.!

Great features include a full recline, multi-position seat, compact umbrella fold and padded carry handle.

Parents with a young infant or twins will appreciate the reclined carriage position (which makes it more pram-like).

Putting it Together
Just pop on the wheels and double canopy — it should take you less than 5 minutes.

The Ride:
The Trevi Twin is simple to maneuver around the streets and had good suspension. There are brakes on all three sets of back wheels, which were very easy to engage. The two parent handles are foam covered and super grippy.

The Seat
The Trevi Twin is for children from birth to 40 lbs. My tall 29 lb. 3 ½-year-old fit in the seat comfortably, after I extended the seat harness to its loosest position. If you have a young infant or twins, the reclined carriage position is best. Reach under the seat, pull out the foot retention boot from the pocket underneath the leg rest. Then fasten the four straps through each of the four eyelets, two on each side of the seat. You can do this for either one or both seats.

Storage
The double storage basket is a good size and held an astonishing amount. If you want to hang a diaper bag on the handles, you’ll either need a wide double stroller bag or use Kalencom’s Stroller Straps (read our review) to extend the reach of the straps on your regular diaper bag.

Sun/Weather Exposure
The sun canopy could have been much more effective. While my kids were protected from the elements, I would have loved to be able to tilt it forward to better protect my children from the sun’s rays. A rain cover is not included, but available.

The Fold
The Trevi Twin  has a typical double umbrella fold. To fold: Pull up the lock in back of both the seats. Then use the foot pedal on the right side to collapse the stroller and fold the whole stroller forward.

Pros: Extremely compact fold, especially for a double umbrella stroller.

Cons: The sun canopy could have more full coverage.

Final Verdict: This side by side umbrella stroller is a winner. The great features and reasonable price make it a good choice for families that need a double stroller.

I have this stroller in the orange/black pattern – I love it! It also has nice tall handles (I’m 5’10” and don’t have to bend over.) I definitely wish the canopy was bigger but that’s my only complaint.

I love this stroller. I am 9 months pregnant and I have a 2 year old and I can already see that the stroller is going to be very helpful. After putting The storller together my son fell in love with it. He climbed in and sat there for like an hour.

This strollers looks great … Can anyone recommend a few double strollers which can accommodate a Graco infant baby carrier / car seat ? Thanks in advance

Dacoda on

I wonder how much room it takes up when folded. Will it fit inside a Honda Civic??

caroline – you asked about strollers that will fit a graco carseat. if you’re looking for a stroller that can accomadate TWO infant seats at one time, your best bet is going to be the baby trend snap n go stroller. it’s only about $100 and they sell it at bru. if you’re looking for a stroller that will hold a carseat and an older child, i would go with the joovy caboose ultralight stand on tandem stroller OR the baby trend sit n stand.

Hi to Caroline and Dacoda,
I am the writer who wrote the review.
Yes, it will fit inside a Honda Civic, double umbrellas don’t take up that much room. I have a 1995 Camry and it fit very easily.

The City Mini Double is the lightest stroller that comes to mind that will take a car seat. I know it will take the Graco. Find out review on the site and there is a discount for it at LetsGoStrolling.com.

How wide is this stroller. I would love a side by side, but I find them too wide alot of the times for city life esp in stores and shops

The design is great, the weight is great (for lugging in and out of the car!), but you’re right, the sun cover does look a bit small. I’ll have to check this out in person to see if it will work for us!

caroline…
i have the valco latitude double for my kids. it takes a graco carseat on one side (with and adapter strap) and is really easy to push, has a great basket, and fits in the trunk of my camry easily. i love it, i only needed to get one double stroller bc its so easy to get in and out of the car for every day use and steers easily on the sidewalk (even in the snow) for when i go walking.

I have the single stroller Chicco and the sun shade sucks. It really doesn’t cover the child at all. Other than that it’s a great stroller. I got the Maclaren twin for my boys. Their shades are great.

I was told by someone at Chicco that the twin stroller was 32 inches wide from outside (of front wheel) to outside.

Where are you all finding these strollers? I have been looking online and at BabiesRus, with no luck.

I am very interested in getting this stroller, however, I am with Tim on this and cannot seem to find it any where. Need some help locating it, so I can actually make the purchase. Please help.

This stroller is unavailable everywhere and chicco’s site says it’s discontinued. Does anyone
know why

Kim on

I called Chicco and they said they discontinued them because the front/back ones were in higher demand. After a lot of searching I found one on craigslist, almost new condition, and bought it. I was so excited until I took it out for a test run with my kids. The sun shade may as well be non-existent, it provides no coverage at all. I was also disappointent to discover it does NOT fit trough all doorways, and after further research it is wider than most other side-by-side strollers.

I have this stroller for almost two years but now I’m having another baby I want to know if there some accessory to fit a car seat for the newborn?

Amanda on

I want this stroller, in any color! I have search every (internet in cluded) and can’t find one for sale anywhere. Can anyone help me out on this??

casey on

I just got this one from a consignment shop for $98. I am a little bummed that the shade isn’t so great, but I’m sure I’ll figure something out. 🙂

I have this exact stroller. Bought it in April 2009 and it’s still in great shape but I didn’t use it much. It is hard to get through a lot of doors & yes the shade umbrella isn’t that great but I would just put a light blanket over it if I needed to & if the seat is reclined all the way back that helped too! It helped me out a lot in a few different situations though such as the airport & the beach. I am getting ready to sell it now but have been sending anyone interested in the stroller this article on it. Seems it was pretty popular in 2009!
