“do you let your child win”
“She said her husband (a very successful physician) had grown up with a father who always let him win every game they played. He wanted him to get used to winning, so that he grew to like it, to expect it and would work hard to always win because that’s what he expected of himself.”

It’s one thing to placate a cranky toddler now and then with “yay, you beat mommy at candyland!” But all the time ? Sorry, no, that does not produce someone with a healthy drive to win. It’s been my experience that someone like that husband is a rare exception. I’ve seen that type of thinking produce two types of people: “I am going to do anything, ethical and unethical, to win. I don’t care how rude I am” & “I didn’t win ? *pouts* Oh, you’ll still share your prize / credit / glory with me, though, right ? No ? You’re mean.”

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
