Keith Urban Dishes On Keeping Sunday Safe

Fame

It’s a dilemma many celebrity families face: how to shield their children from the spotlight. Although country crooner Keith Urban and his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, decided to call Nashville, Tennessee their home in order to keep daughter Sunday Rose, 10 months, out of the public eye, the 41-year-old first-time dad admits it’s a constant struggle to ensure that baby girl is given a normal childhood. “[We do] what we can to keep [Sunday] safe because she didn’t choose to come into this lifestyle,” he says.

“It’s just what her mother and I do, so we do what we can to try and keep some civility about the whole thing.”

As the photographers have managed to capture a few shots of baby Sunday out and about, the singer admits that while he “understands the society we live in,” the entire situation leaves him feeling uneasy. “It’s a bit odd at times in that regard,” he says of the constant paparazzi pursuit. Calling the lack of privacy “a bit intrusive,” Keith shares he will stop at nothing to protect his little ladies. “I’m as protective of my family as any father and husband can be,” he explains.

Fortunately for the trio, the proud papa is able to constantly keep an eye on his daughter — even when he is out on tour! In addition to turning the tour bus into a comfortable space for Sunday, Keith has also made it a priority to add in several small holidays between his shows. Still, there is nothing like having company out on the road. “I love having them,” he gushes.

“I love when the girls are here.”

Keith kicked off his Escape Together World Tour last week.

Gwen Stefani and Zuma Hit the Shops

Rachpoot/INF

Back in California for a few days after playing a few dates with No Doubt, Gwen Stefani brings 8-month-old Zuma Nesta Rock along for a shopping trip to the Grove on Thursday in Los Angeles.

Zuma’s been sticking with mom, but big brother Kingston James McGregor, 3 this month, hit the road with dad Gavin Rossdale in early May.

CBB reader Rachel even spotted him at Gavin’s Boston show on Friday, May 1st! “Just before the show, who’s hanging outside the club? KINGSTON! (wearing mum’s Harajuku Lovers jammies and ear protection, of course!),” she writes. “Later that night, during the show, we’re watching from the balcony area and a toddler comes running down the hall behind us, nanny literally running after him — Kingston, again! He’s adorable and full of spunk, rock star in training for sure!”

Gavin is currently on tour, hitting Richmond, Virginia tonight, while No Doubt is back on the road starting May 16th.

CBB Talks to Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe

Donald Bowers/Getty

Parents and actors Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker recently opened up in PEOPLE magazine about their 4-year-old daughter Sophie‘s battle with spina bifida, and now the couple has talked with CBB as well! We spoke to the couple just before the R Baby Mother’s Day Run/Walk in Central Park.

Living with Sophie’s spina bifida has opened Nicole and Boris’ eyes to what all parents need to know about emergency rooms because, “we’ve spent a great deal of time in the ER with Sophie and now understand that all ERs are not created equal. We support R Baby in their work to improve the quality of pediatric emergency medicine and to educate parents about the full range of issues surrounding children and emergency rooms.”

They talked to us in-depth about caring for Sophie’s health issues, their foundation Sophie’s Voice‘s three-tiered approach to spina bifida, and of course, CBB reader questions!
