Kelly Ripa's Son Joaquin is 'Going to the Dark Side'

Charles Eshelman/FilmMagic

With both of their parents in show business, it’s no surprise that Michael Joseph 12 next month, Lola Grace, 8 next month, and Joaquin Antonio, 6, are dreaming big when it comes to their future! In the May 11th issue of OK!, Live with Regis and Kelly co-host Kelly Ripa opens up about her children’s aspirations, saying, “Lola wants to be a pony doctor, which I believe is called a veterinarian.” While Michael is interested in pursuing a career as a cartoonist, it is little Joaquin who seems to have taken a more unusual route — as Darth Vader!

“Yep, I’ve got one going to the dark side.”

A mom of three who juggles both motherhood and her co-hosting duties, Kelly admits that she doesn’t have all the answers when it comes to maintaining a perfect balance between the two. “I try my hardest at work and at home,” she says. “I’m very lucky in that I have the best hours a person could hope for; I get to pick my kids up every day from school and take them to all their activities.”

Although viewed by millions each morning, the 38-year-old — who is reluctant to “disturb” the “good balance” in her family of five by adding another child to the mix — believes she is far from a role model by her own standards. Despite not feeling as if she is an inspiration to others, she shares she turns to her audience members for strength. “I’m constantly meeting working moms in my audience who achieve so much in their lives that I feel encouraged and empowered by them,” she explains.

“We’re all going through the motions of working and raising our children and being good wives — as best we can.”

Michael, Lola, and Joaquin are Kelly’s children with husband Mark Consuelos.

Thalía: Sabrina is a Singing Sensation

Jimmy Lenner, Jr.

Since becoming a mother when she welcomed Sabrina Sakaë, now 19 months, life for Thalía has been full of surprises. While her 33-hour labor may have been an unpleasant — and very unexpected — one, the songstress has since been basking in the marvels of motherhood. In a new interview with The Boston Globe, Thalía reveals that her daughter is already showing great talent when it comes to belting out her baby voice on her mama’s tracks!

“She’s singing a little bit of Amor a la Mexicana. She sings the ends of some of the others too, but mostly she dances to them.”

For a woman who enjoys motherhood as much as she does, the 37-year-old realizes that, for her, starting a family came later in life. According to the actress, with a career that took off when she was only a toddler, there was little time to concentrate on anything other than show business. “Seriously, there’s a biological clock that everyone talks about and you really start to feel it,” she explains.

“I thought, this is a great moment for me and I was feeling the clock and knew now was the time.”

Fortunately, the addition of baby Sabrina has only inspired Thalía’s music in more ways than the proud mama could ever have imagined. “Having a baby makes you want to connect with humanity in a more sincere and honest way,” she says. “I’m not saying that before I didn’t do that, because before I did all kinds of romantic, profound, and touching songs, but now it’s a different approach.”

Sabrina is Thalía’s first child with husband, music executive Tommy Mottola. Her new book, Thalía: ¡Radiante!, is available now.

I’d Like the Goo-Gen-Heim: A 1970's Trip to the Guggenheim From A Child's Perspective

CBB Note: The link and discount code have been updated.

I’d Like the Goo-Gen-Heim

I’d Like the Goo-Gen-Heim ($15) is a 1970 children’s book by A.G. Hollingsworth that was found at a library sale and quickly ushered into re-printing by the museum’s press. It’s the story of Andy, a little boy who, upon entering “the most beautiful building” he’s ever seen that seems to “smile at him,” becomes taken with the Kandinskys and Klines inside.

My children, who are 5 and 3 and live in Los Angeles, were captivated by the idea of a spiral building, and after reading the book raced to “Google Images” for a look at the real thing. Now they have a motivation to visit New York — and to pick up a paintbrush. Complete with vintage watercolor illustrations, the book is the first in a new product line, Guggenheim Kids.

Adam Sandler Dishes on Sadie's Third Birthday Party

KM Press

Sadie Madison Sandler recently celebrated her third birthday, and dad Adam Sandler said during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that his daughter made out like a bandit! “I have a lot of friends, and they’re very nice to Sadie,” he noted. “She got an insane amount of gifts.” Some of the gifts have been a bigger hit than others, however! “The toys are scary at night,” the 42-year-old actor explained. “We leave them on the floor like crazy people.” On his way to the kitchen for a late night snack, Adam stepped on some toys that gave him quite a fright! He joked,

“It said ‘Let’s play!’ I stepped on another, and I hear, ‘What’s your name?’ I stepped on another and it said, ‘I’m gonna kill you, you rich bastard.’ And I flipped on the light and I stepped on my nanny. Yeah, she hates me.”

Sadie had some unrealistic expectations of who would attend her party, so Adam improvised. “I watch movies with her, like Sleeping Beauty. So Sleeping Beauty is on, she points to Sleeping Beauty [and says], ‘I want her to come.’ Cinderella is on, [she says], ‘We have to ask Cinderella to come,’” he explained. “You hate to let down your kid.”

“So I said, I can’t get those guys, but I can get two of The Seven Dwarves. So I had [Rob] Schneider and [David] Spade come. Grumpy and Sleazy!”

As for new baby Sunny Madeline, 6 months, Adam revealed that his younger daughter just started solids. “My kid didn’t like the cereal that much, so I ground up some prime rib and she loved it,” he joked.

Sadie and Sunny are Adam’s children with wife Jackie.

Rachel Weisz Went Without the Baby Books

Freddy Baez/Ramey

When most mothers discover they are expecting their first child, trips to the bookstore or late-night searches online often become a normal routine. The same, however, cannot be said for actress Rachel Weisz who skipped the pregnancy literature all together! “I think the most incredible thing for me was that I didn’t read any books about how to be a mom,” she tells PARADE. Instead, the 39-year-old proudly admits she relied on none other than her natural, gut feelings.

“Your instinct kicks in and it’s like you’re tapping knowledge that you have in your DNA.”

After all, Rachel says, she is not alone in her journey through motherhood and has simply joined forces with “the millions and millions of women on the planet who are working moms,” as she struggles to find a balance between spending time with son Henry Chance, 3 this month, and nurturing her acting career.

Fortunately for Rachel, show business has made the responsibilities of motherhood all that much easier. Considering herself among the lucky few that can easily bring her child to work, the actress realizes that her childcare solutions are not a reality for most mothers. “If you work in an office or a factory, your kids can’t come visit you during the day,” she explains. “On films there’s a lot of down time so he’s with me a lot.”

That said, Rachel laughs that she has found a fault in keeping her little boy on set all day. “The only problem is that everyone is spoiling him rotten,” she laughs.

Henry is the only child for Rachel and fiancé Darren Aronofsky.
