Finnaryn- I agree! I lost my first tooth around the age of 6 or so. My brother, on the otherhand, was already sporting quite a gap-toothed grin at that age!

Awww that’s sweet

My son is 6 and has already lost 3 teeth (He lost the first when he was 5) I thought 5 – 6 was the average age to lose a first tooth (7 seems old to me, Finnaryn), but obviously it will vary from child to child. By the end of the year in my son’s kindergarten class, out of 16 kids only one had yet to lose a tooth (Ages 5-6) and several had lost more than one.

Mary, our dentist told us that 7 was the “normal” age to start loosing teeth. But you are right that it can very widely. My daughter was 6 when she lost her first one but my son, who turned 5 in January, lost his first in March. He lost his second in late April and the new ones are just now poking through.

I use to love to lose my teeth as a kid! because the toothfairy would put money under my pillow! i loved it! lol.

aww, little James. he’s losing his first baby tooth pretty late there. i’ve known kids that start losing them as early as 4. but i think the norm is around 5 or so.

AWWWW! I remember that, when I was a kid, I actually couldn’t wait to lose my first tooth! Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I finally did (although a bit surprised by the funny taste in my mouth from the blood afterwards!)!

My cousins tooth fell out the other day and he started to cry and asked if he was going to die lol. Poor thing, kids are funny. SJP and MB’s boy is really cute.

I teach 1st grade, and my favorite moments this year have been the days where a kid loses his/her first tooth. It is just SO exciting for them!
