Mirka Vavrinec Federer Roots for Roger

Juan Soliz/Pacific Coast News

Pregnant Mirka Vavrinec Federer — wife of tennis star Roger Federer — cheers on her husband during the French Open 2009 held Thursday at the Roland-Garros stadium in Paris.

The couple, who are expecting a baby boy this summer, haven’t chosen a name for their son yet, and consider it a daunting task!

“You know, we’ll see,” Roger said recently. “There’s quite a few books around that are that thick, so we’ll see where it takes us. But, no, we haven’t decided anything yet. I have no clue right now myself. Thank God we have time left to decide.”

They can name the baby Rafael as Rafa Nadal. ;)

I’m not hugely familiar with Mirka….is she a tennis player as well? Pregnancy looks good on her!

Alex – yes, she’s retired from tennis. She and Roger met at the Sydney Olympics.

Where is Mirka from (I’m asking because her name sounds like it could be Czech or Russian or something)?

@ CelebBabyLover: she was born in slovakia and left the country when she was two years old.

I wish the new family all the best and I am so happy for Roger winning the Grand Slam on all surfaces. What a wonderful career accomplishment for him. He is truly an awesome, classy player. His moves are athletic yet artistic. There really is no one else who can move with such grace Even though some may win matches with him, no one can match the way he plays tennis, not by a long shot. He is such a true gentleman, as is his main rival, Rafa Nadal. We are fortunate to have these people in the sport.
