i believe she did the whole pageant, modeling circuit, and tv show hosting thing for a while before going into acting. but the show she was on has been canceled for quite some time now, so (no offense) i’m not seeing how she’s still some type of A-lister. to that extent, just have some cake and fun at home and call it a day. she’s turning 2. trust me, she won’t remember a thing, so why stress. at 4, 5, and beyond, then yes i can see fretting over the party, b/c those she will remember. but it’s too soon to start turning your house into a 3 ring circus over a 2 yr old who will be too young to understand and probably overwhelmed by it all anyways. nothing to do with how much one’s disposable income is. it’s a child birthday, not the pope visiting.

Personally I totally disagree with you Sarah K. I am sorry but I find it repulsive that bleeding children are dying in their mothers arms in Sri Lanka for want of medical attention or crowded in makeshift refugee camps while Ali Landry (whoever she is) worries about exactly how many celebrity freebies she can snaffle without seeming over-indulgent and thus “un-relateable” to her viewing audience for whatever it is she does. And I think she does need to get a grip and find something real to be “stressed-out” about. As do I on occassion and I say the same things to myself.

Couldn’t have said it better myself, Sarah K. Sometimes it seems people comment simply to ridicule celebs for spending money they’ve earned. It isn’t a hardship for them and if thought of in terms relative to their income, isn’t that expensive. But it’s a pattern in society to build people up and then tear them down. If you want to feel bitter about these people spending this kind of money in this economic climate, maybe take a glance in the mirror. You, the consumer, have created their lifestyle. You, the celeb-following public, have created the demand. So who are you really upset with?

This is a celebrity baby blog, so all of the parents/kids featured here do have a lot of money. This isn’t a shock. They obviously don’t have the same kinds of problems us regular people have. But, she shouldn’t have to shut her mouth just because someone somewhere who reads the interview has bigger issues. It’s not like she’s bragging about her wealth to your face. And, this is Ali’s only child so it’s not really uncommon for her to be planning every detail of a birthday party. She has more time and money to focus on this so that’s what she’s doing.

How exciting!! I love planning birthday parties (and babyshowers lol) I think we should be able to spend as much as we want (and can afford) we shouldn’t have to explain ourselves to anyone and we shouldn’t have to apologize for having more money and be able to spend more than others. I usually always give my daughter a nice birthday party with friends and family, I have done it since she was 1..she might not remember but I DO! and when she grows up I will tell her about it and show her the video and the pictures!

My kids don’t get a very fancy party until they are 5. At that age they have school friends to invite and they can participate more in the planning. Those early years are really just for family and a couple of tots from the playgroup. It just doesn’t make a lot of sense to splash out on something the child won’t even remember.

I guess at least she’s trying to come up with a balance? Some of the celebrity kid birthday parties on this site are outrageous! But I do agree with the above posters…I think she’s trying a little too hard to be relateable. Yah, we all want to make our kids happy, but especially during the current economic times, most of us don’t have a ton of $ to just throw around.

I agree. She does sound OTT for a 2nd b’day party!, jeez, the kid won’t remember it way being that young, lol and does’t need outrageous material things, I personally hope she goes for lowkey, teach her daughter money’s not everything, but being a celebrity has the resources as mehntioned so probably not! We found our son got into his b’day really at 3 and more so his 4th b’day and others we know did the same, more of a big deal from 3 or 4 onwards when they understand & they enjoy themselves with their little friends. Fushia, ITA: she does need other things to think about. sounds shallow to me. Not to be rude but from other things I’ve read, her daughter sounds a bit pampered to me?!
