Shannon Miller Expecting First Child, a Boy

Update: Shannon is having a son. “It’s a boy!!!!,” she tweeted yesterday. “We just found out and are so excited.”

Originally posted April 27th: Is there a future balance beamer in the oven? Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller and her husband John Falconetti are expecting their first child together, the mama-to-be announced to viewers during an appearance on Oklahoma’s Channel 4 news. Revealing that her due date is November 5th, Shannon shares that her parents are simply “over the moon” with the upcoming arrival.

Giving birth will be one more accomplishment to add to the 32-year-old’s long list of life’s achievements: As the most decorated gymnast in U.S. history, Shannon is the proud owner of seven Olympic and nine World Championship medals.

Perhaps best known for her performance in the individual all-around in the 1992 Olympic games in Barcelona, Shannon went on to win the gold medal for her balance beam routine at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, as well as receiving a team gold as part of the Magnificent Seven.

Boy she does look different.She had a pretty distinctive nose. The last I heard she was going through a bitter divorce. I assume she remarried. Congrats!

i don’t know that she’s had plastic surgery as much as she’s just grown up and changed from what we knew when she was younger and an olympic gymnast. She obviously has different hair and she may have had some dental work and that often changes things. I recognized her the second I saw the pic. i went to college at the Univ of Oklahoma with her while she was there, she was always quiet and kept to herself in class. i’m happy to see that she’s found happiness again and is going to be a mother.

Yay! I have always loved Shannon Miller – ever since the 1992 olympics. Congratulations! She does look a lot different but I’m sure most of us look different than we did 17 years ago!

Wow! She really does look completely different! I wouldn’t have recognized her either. She looks to be older than 32 as well. She transformed similar to Jennifer Grey from Dirty dancing.

I was a huge fan of the 1996 Women’s gymnastics team and I loved her! I do agree she had to have some work done because she looks COMPLETELY different! Dominique Moceanu was on the same team and I would still recognize her anywhere! Of course, she has pretty distinct features but still.

That is a really bad picture, I have met her at least a couple dozen times over the last couple years and trust me, thats not what she looks like in person. She did have a nose job, I think everyone knows that.

Wow, that’s Shannon Miller???? She looks like a completely different person than the Shannon Miller who won golds in the Olympics! I’m stunned.
