It must be so wonderful for Denise to see her mother whenever she looks at Lola. There’s such a resemblance.

Lookk how long Sam’s hair is..Must be nice. My daughter is 7 and her hair doesn’t grow

- Kayla on

I like black on kids too. And wow their hair is looong !! Whats the good age to start teaching the kids ride without training wheels?

- nikka on

Such sweet girls.

Nikka, it varies from child to child. My eldest was four, almost five when the training wheels came off. The majority of children I know were between four and six years of age when they began riding without them. Basically, whenever they feel comfortable.

Sam and Lola are such cute little girls! :)

Denise is a very dedicated mom. Sam and Lola look just like her.

Mine JUST took the training wheels off last month and shes 8, BUT we don’t have a good place to ride (LOTS of hills)…And my 6 year old is almost done too…so it depends..

Seems like yesterday Sam and Lola were born…they are so cute!

Cute kids, but Denise should return Lola’s bike. I wonder if she had a salesman to help her? They should have had Lola on a bigger bike, that’s a 12″ she has and it’s way too little, look at her legs, poor baby. My nephew is about her height and his little knees took a beating for the same reason. We ended up going to the next size up, 16″ and it was way better. It looks like Sam’s ready to move up to a 18″ or 20″ so maybe Denise can do some simple trading lol. Not that cash is an issue.

“Denise is a very dedicated mom.”

I don’t think it’s possible to tell that from one picture.

I’m surprised her show is coming back, I thought it was canceled because of low ratings. What happened?

- Angie on

My son started riding without training wheels when he was 2, about a week before my 5 yr old started, so it varies!

My daughter was 5.5yo when she learned to ride without training wheels. It would have been the Summer before but she preferred to use her scooter instead. It varies from child to child.
I agree about the bikes being too small. Lola looks very top heavy on that little bike. I’m glad Denise has their helmets on correctly though.

- Lorus on

Time to take the training wheels off Sam’s bike. Most five year olds are two wheeling it by that point.

awww they so cute :)

Angie, speculation that the show wouldn’t return were only rumors. The official statements from MTV always said that they’re happy with the show and that it’s coming back for a second season. The new season started filming in January.

Sam and Lola are such beautiful girls!

Hey hey, to those saying it’s time for Sam to lose her stabilisers (as they’re called here in the UK), maybe she doesn’t want them off yet? I didn’t learn to cycle without them til I was about 8 (my younger sister learnt before me) because I was a big scaredy-cat.

Love the streamers and baskets, proper little girl bikes. I had a ‘baby’ seat for dolls on the back of mine instead.

Robinepowell, she isn’t too old for training wheels. It varies from child to child and she’s still pretty young. Most of the kids I know learn around this time. I had mine taken off at the age of 5 and I was one of the first in my class. If she was 10 and still using training wheels, then I would agree that she needs to lose them, but 5?

- Sarah K. on

This is a cute photo. Reminds me that I don’t know how to ride a bike :(

- Meream on

Training wheels aren’t for us to judge. I think I lost them on my 9th birthday. My parents thought it was crazy that it was taking me that long. Turns out I was then diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder and to this day I still have difficulty riding a bike. They’d had no idea anything was wrong with me, and the doctor explained to them that was why I had trouble riding a bike. So, we never know the back stories with people…

- MZ on

Yeah I don’t think 5 is too old to be riding with training wheels at all. The summer I was 5 I tried to learn to ride without them and I couldn’t do it. I just didn’t have the coordination but my neighbor who was only 4 was doing it on her own. By the next summer I learned it fairly quickly. Sam will learn when she is ready whether it be soon or not for another couple years.

- Laura on

I learned when I was like 3 but my older brother was 6 and could ride so I really think that helped.

- Natasha on

MZ- I couldn’t agree more! I have a condition which slightly affects my balance and coordination. On a day to day basis it isn’t much of an issue. However, it does mean that, to this day, I am unable to ride a two-wheeled bike. When I was a kid, I briefly tried riding without training wheels, but my parents and I eventually came to the realization that it just was not going to happen (which didn’t surprise us that much, as I’ve had this condition since birth).

I am hoping to finally get a three-wheeled bike by next summer, though (a friend of mine has one that she’s going to be replacing sometime between now and next summer. So, as the old bike is still in good condition, she’s going to give it to me.). :)

- CelebBabyLover on

Sorry, I don’t know any 5-year-olds who don’t use training wheels. And I think it’s safer for them to use training wheels at that age!

- plS on

It probably depends on where you live. In the Netherlands your on your bike everyday and you use it for everything so you’ll learn faster.
