Meet Emme Burwell! The Insider correspondent Victoria Recaño and husband Tom Burwell welcomed their daughter three months ago and are now introducing Emme via her birth announcement. Designed with Jessie Preza, owner of Nesting Shoppe, Victoria chose to use lavender and chocolate brown, coordinating the announcement with Emme’s nursery colors. Like the announcement, but again – I hate how they are calling her “Emme”, which in my opinion doesn’t even resemble her real first name OR middle name…

IMO they can call her by whatever name they choose. Emme is their child’s first and middle initial. No different to me from JT for John Thomas. She is such a beautiful baby. I love sleeping babies!

I believe it’s from MaxEMillienne, if that’s how they’re choosing to pronounce it that’s where Emme would most likely come from. I think that’s actually a very cute name, I’ve never thought of femming up Maximillian. She looks like a bundle of pure bliss.

Emme is their child’s first and middle initial. No different to me from JT for John Thomas. Good point NOT her full name is Maximilienne Elisabeth. I don’t understand how the name emme come from those two names wouldn’t be maxi or lizzy. Maximilienne is one long name.

i figured it out that Emme was really “M.E.” M for Maximilienne and E for elisabeth. that is a formal name which is pretty too. it’s also a creative nickname, but why give her such a big/long name if she will go by Emme? why not just name her Emme instead as her official name?
doesn’t make sense to me.

The baby is so beautiful, look at those lips! However, although Emme is a cute name, it still seems like she just used both of Jennifer Lopez’s twins name, and put them together, but to each their own.

lola- I’m guessing they wanted to give her a more formal name to fall back on as an adult if she doesn’t like Emme. I mean, let’s face it, Emme IS more of a little girl’s name than a grown woman’s!

Mia- It’s probably just conciendence, just as one of J-Lo’s twins, Max, has the same name as Trista and Ryan Sutter’s son, and his nickname is the same as Christina Aguilera’s son. There are actually a lot of celeb children out there with the same name. For example, there are a lot of Avas in Hollywood!

Chris Rock’s daughter is named Zahra, which is just one letter away from Zahara, which is Angelina and Brad’s oldest daughter’s name. Lisa Marie Presley and Angie Harmon both have daughters named Finley…and the list goes on.

Anyway, to me, Victoria and Tom calling their baby “Emme” is no different from using Dick as a nickname for Richard or Bill as a nickname for William.

Isn’t Emme pronounced like the letter M? Emmie would be pronounced EM-mee. I thought they called her Emme because her first name starts with an M. Yes, it’s possible that they pronounce it EM-mee and that it comes from her initials M.E.

I doubt that it comes from Maximilienne as there is no Emme sound in the name itself. Unless they’re mispronouncing it.

It makes no sense to me as well. Sure there are guys named J.T. around (for James Thomas or whatever) but they usually don’t spell it Jaytee, and usually it’s name they get by friends to sound cool and it’s not something their parents would choose.

Why give her a long name like Maximilienne if they are never going to use it? Emma or Emily nn Em or Emmy would have made more sense.

I think they wanted to name her Emme, but didn’t want to imitate Lopez, so they come up with this weird idea.

Lily, I’ve heard people who pronounce it both Em (as in the letter M) or Emmy, so I believe it could be either way.

Lily, everyone I’ve ever heard of/known who named a child “Emme” pronounces it EM-mee (two syllables like Emmie or Emmy). I reread the announcement several times before I understood that they were, indeed, referring to the same child because I just did NOT put the formal name and the nickname together immediately! (I also noticed that she has Jennifer Lopez’s children’s names, as well!) I think the most logical explanation for calling her “Emme” is what one of the previous comments states: Her first two initials are “M” and “E” and they phonetically wrote the letters out as Emm (M) and e (E) to create the nickname. Maybe they thought it was cute or unique and shortened the very long (albeit beautiful) name they gave her. It would not have been my choice to do that, but I guess it made sense and was pleasing to them. The one good thing about her names is that, when she grows up, she does have quite a few options if she chooses to go by one of her other names or another nickname…there would be quite a few to choose from! LOL!

Not only does little “Emme” have the same names of Jennifer Lopez’s twins – they have the same birthdate, J.Lo’s being born a year earlier. Quite an interesting coincidence, eh?

Anyway, I too do not understand why give such a big name when you’re just going to call her Emme. Emme is a beautiful name on it’s own.

My daughter’s name is Emmy. Not short for anything, just Emmy. When I named her it wasn’t a popular name. Now everyone in Hollywood is choosing Emmy with various spellings. And my daughter will be a fabulous, sophisticated, well respected “grown woman” with the name Emmy. It’s a beautiful name.

Now THAT is a stunning baby. Looks like a little doll. Maximilliene isn’t a name I would have thought of on my own, but I think it’s a strong, slightly masculine name with feminine overtones. I like it. Emme is cute for while she’s young, but by the time she’s a teen if not sooner I think it’ll be too cutesy. She can always go by Maxine or Millie by then.

Yeah, I don’t really understand why the nickname isn’t the real name, but anyone can choose what they want. Back in 1942 when my mother was born, her parents named her Georgia Lea, but called her Micki from birth and always (and still does) go by the nickname. Go figure…

I don’t know if other people are just slow or what….Some of the “reasons” being put forth are rather ridiculous….

How is everyone else pronouncing this name? When I say it I hear max-EM-il-ee-en. Making some version of Max, Em or Milly all perfectly logical. I think Maximilienne is a beautiful name, but a mouthful to say all the time. Max sounds boyish and Milly sounds grandma-ish, so to me Em or Emme are beautiful options for a nickname.

Lastly, wouldn’t the most logical reason for the use of Maximilienne and Emme be that they LIKED both names and wanted to use both? Not some weird J.Lo conspiracy….
