Jools Oliver's Pretty Petal

Danny Martindale/WireImage

What a cutie! Jools Oliver shows off 7-week-old Petal Blossom Rainbow on Thursday at The Big Toddle in London.

The Barnardo’s Big Toddle is the UK’s biggest charity event for children under the age of 5 — each year, up to half a million children take part in a short sponsored walk to benefit children’s programs across England.

Petal, who arrived April 3rd, is the third daughter for Jools and chef husband Jamie Oliver. The couple are also parents to Daisy Boo, 6, and Poppy Honey, 7.

They certainly love flowers! LOL

Petal Blossom Rainbow????????????? How very, um, interesting and hippie! Not my first, second, third, etc. choice, but to each their own- My only wish would be that if a parent is going to give their child a funky/unusual name, that they would at least throw a ‘normal’ name somewhere in it to give the child a choice as to what name to go by, which may be important as the child develops into an adult and matures…jmo!

- brook on

oh…what a sweetie!

- CTBmom on

Daisy and Poppy are adorable names, I wish they’d picked something other than Petal, but still, to each his own.

- Sarah on

Awww. I forget how tiny a new one is! Too sweet!

- Amanda on

The baby is a doll, Although that poor kid will be torchured in school. kids can be very cruel. I wish parents would think of that before they choose names like this. I also feel bad for Pen’s daughter Moxie Crimefighter. I know some parents want original names but some are just insane names

- Kayla on

I would have thought she’d have been popular in school no matter what her name is as surely everyone would want to go to their house for tea if Jamie’s cooking! What an adorably baby, very cute!

- Bumbles on

She looks just like Jamie, very cute. Just like her sisters.

- Sammy-xx on

kids aren’t nearly as cruel as adults. wonder where they learn to judge?

- brannon on

In the UK middle names are rarely used, and considering the “out there” celebrity names, Peanut, Pilot Inspektor, Moon Unit etc. I think Petal is tame. I’ve certainly heard of it before and Poppy, Daisy and Petal Oliver are all pretty, girly names. I really doubt they’ll get picked on in school over it, in the types of schools they will be going to in London they will not be the most unusual names by any stretch of the imagination.

- Sydney on

Adorable baby and I love their names! Very sweet and girly.
I hear all sorts of unique names in LA and no one seems to judge and the kids all seem fine and no one picks on each other.
Perhaps it depends on where you live and the attitude of the parents.

- Kimberly on

Oh, how lovely! There’s just nothing like a newborn… I mean all kids are great, but newborns literally make me melt!! And I LOVE her name, and those of her sisters too…

Petal Blossom Rainbow? …ok :-/

- Kate on

Wow! Jools looks incredible : ) I should hope I bounce back so quickly one day! And Petal is all Daddy : )

- Patrice on

She’s adorable. Maybe I’m in the minority but I really like the name Petal.

Brannon, If your comment was directed at me you should know that I teach my children to respect and never make fun of anyone. I was simply pointing out how society is and has been. I don’t know where you grew up but around here kids arre constantly getting picked on from their name to the clothes they wear. I honestly think it is horible, but its unfortunately how society is..

- Kayla on

aww v. sweet. Was so pleased after hearing their baby news. I read and loved her book whilst I was pregnant with my daughter. All the best to them. I think they’ve got lovely pretty names – better than some big chav names you hear!!

- kate on

She’s adorable with those big doe-like eyes, and right now she’s making me think of Jamie. It could change as she grows older…;)

- FC on

whats with all the flower names ?

- stephanie on

She’s a cutie, love her little doe-eyes, love the little newborns. To me she resembles her mum Jools, not Jamie. Not keen on her name either and I don’t understand giving her 3 unusual names. We have a freya isabelle, figured she can go by Izzy or Isabelle instead if she wants but we both liked her first (Nordic) name. I like Poppy and Daisy’s names.

I think Kayla is right… children can be very mean, specially now that people most parents work all day and when they get home they don’t teach them to behave as they should… most kids end up growing up with no limits… to give a baby a weird name is to not think that it can and will happen… I remember a few years ago a little cousin was really upset because a classmate had called a wale just because she was a little overweight… one thing is an original name, another thing is a name too original… if no one has thought on that for a name, there must be a good reason…

- Elisa on

I’m pretty conservative with names, but I personally don’t think Petal is all that bad. However, when you combine it with Blossom and Rainbow the name goes from so-so to… hippy. But that’s just me.

- lawgirl on

P.S. to Sam and Freya’s mom – I’ve recently fallen in love with both of your children’s names, especially Freya! Do you find that people have difficulty pronouncing it?

- lawgirl on

Thanks lawgirl, generally don’t have problems with people mispronouncing it, occasionally people not sure and say Fre-ear but we figured it at least it’s not longwinded spelling-wise and phonetically spelt. there is a more Nordic spelling with a ‘j’ instead of the ‘y’, but both are Nordic but figured wiht the ‘y’ not so unusual. We liked it as it wasn’t too common but also not hugely wayout, we hope…?!! I’d read it in a UK mag and liked it straightaway, years ago before our son arrived in ’04 but hadn’t heard of it before, some presenter over there named her daughter Freya, luckily hubby liked it and had heard of it himself as he’s into mythology/wargaming & that was it as we’d found it. We were thinking Maia or Mia but went with Freya as so many Mias etc these days! Sam more old fashioned I guess and were others i liked but only name we could agree on (yes, do agree in comprromise and both liking name as have to live with it, and the child!) so it stuck.

Aww. She is adorable and Jools looks fantastic! It’s not one of my favourites but the name Petal is starting to grow on me.

lawgirl – I’m a Freya and sometimes I do get people pronouncing it Free-ah, for some reason thinking I said Fran when introducing myself or spelling it incorrectly. However, on the plus side I was never teased because of my name and have received plenty of compliments about it.

- Freya on

I seriously doubt that these girls are going to be made fun of. Their names are hippy-bohemian, but their dad is a world famous chef. They will go to lovely special elite schools where their classmates just *might* be named things like Buffy or Muffy after their grandmother.

Their names are not so off the wall as to be offensive (and as an elementary school teacher, trust me, I’ve met some offensively named children). Their names are all really sweet and girly. It’s hard to imagine them as regular adults who are accountants or lawyers, but probably they won’t be anyway. Artistic talent runs in their veins.

- Mrs. R. on

Amie- I like the name as well! :) Also, trust me, kids will tease you no matter what your name is (my mom had to find this out the hard way when she was a kid!)!

- CelebBabyLover on

Her name is ridiculous, I agree but in an old school, I once knew a girl called Anum Butt and let it be said she was indeed the ” butt” of jokes!

- babyboopie on

They’re both gorgeous!

I like Daisy, Poppy and Petal (no one uses their middle name anyway) and they’re quite standard in the UK (in 2007 Daisy way #24, Poppy was #28 in England/Wales).

- Sanja on

Please, stop about this name! Jamie and Jools love the name and it tottaly fits with Poppy and Daisy. I love this picture, she really is so tiny! She resembles Jools in this picture IMO.

- Isis on

I think the name would have been fine (not my taste, but okay) if they wouldn’t have added Rainbow.
Petal Blossom would have been a perfecctly fine baby name all on its own.

- Micheley on

I <3 those names!!! All of them beautiful:) <3

- robin on

I find it ironic that many are finding girl names quite common in the UK strange when here at home Madison was popular for a longtime…the capital of Wisonsin…

- Alicia on

Cute baby. But they suck at picking names. Those poor kids are going to be teased beyond belief!
