Actress Renee Elise Goldsberry is a brand new mom! She and husband Alexis Johnson recently welcomed son Benjamin, reports Soap Opera Digest. The couple’s spokesperson confirms the birth and shares that “both mom and baby are doing great. Their family is overjoyed, and they are praising God for this perfect miracle. Renee thanks all of you for your support and constant encouragement. In lieu of cards or gifts, she asks for your continued prayers and well wishes. They truly work wonders because Benjamin is a dream come true!”

Renee, 38, appeared as Evangeline Williamson on the daytime serial One Life to Live from 2003 until 2007. Known for her work on Broadway as well, the actress originated the role of Nettie in The Color of Purple, played Nala in The Lion King and most recently Mimi in the final run of Rent.

The couple announced the pregnancy in February.

I always liked the name Benjamin, “Ben” has always been one of my favorite shorter names.

This is truly wonderful news as Renee suffered a terrible 2nd trimester loss and this healthy baby is definately a miracle! Congratulations Renee, having had two miscarriages myself and now the proud mama of a beautiful 2 yr old girl, I am so incredibly happy for you and your family.
