Mouse, Gel, it’s quite easy to get it to stand up. Still not a fan of it. They tried to make him look older imo but failed with the pacifier lol.

I think he looks cool and it suits him very well! Come on he’s a Rossdale-Stefani kid… His parents wouldn’t do anything to harm him. I think it’s his own natural hair if you ask me.

We need to respect Gwen, Gavin and therefore little Kingston. And Brad & Angelina for that matter if they allow Maddox to have his own hairstyle.

We even have to respect Barron Trumps hairdo. Although it looks similair to his dad’s. People, to each his own.

His mohawk is too long, if they cut it a bit shorter and dyed it a darker shade, he’d look rocking cool but because it’s all floppy and weird looking, it just doesn’t work! But loving his clothes though. It’s a shame because he’s a beautiful boy and Gwen/Gavin should do more to accuentate it.

I like it. I also know that the binky things generally sort themselves out. If you take it when the child is ready there is no trauma and if there are younger siblings you don’t the older with the little one’s binky. My daughter was just about to turn 4 when she gave hers up and the dentist has said that her teeth are fine and she speaks better than most adults I know.

I actually like that he still has a paci. I’m sure he doesn’t use it all the time, but let’s face it, some kids suck their thumbs at that age, and some kids like their pacifier. My daughter is older than Kingston and still sleeps with one and has no dental or speech issues whatsoever. Kingston is adorable.

When I saw the first pic of Kingston’s new do’ I hated it. But now I’m fond of it.
Some people get dental issues anyway without binky sucking. His parents have enough money to pay dental bills anyway. My sister sucked her thumb until she was seven and she has the best set of pearly whites in our family, no dental work needed.

I am surprised by this. I sucked my binky until I was 5 years old! hahahahahah! He is so cute. But I just think it is too soon to be dying his hair and shavinghis head. I am not sure he even understands what they did to him..and he is still a baby and he is not a fashion item accesory. I would just wait until my kid is like 10 and understands his own style. I don’t think i would force something to drastic on him. I find it a bit off. Just my two cents.

It’s not so much the wild hair cut that bothers me (I mean, his parents are a little off beat), but it is the fact that CLEARLY little Kingston’s hair has been bleached out! I mean, are we dying our children’s hair now?! That’s way too over the top if you ask me. Even for rock stars. The child is in pre-school!

Is that a bra or a swimsuit top under Gwen’s shirt? yuck, not a fan of “showing off the undergarments look”. His hair looks like a shorter version of that ringmaster from Barnum and Baily Circus. Double yuck. On a positive note..I have no problem with pacifiers, some kids just need them.

The pacifier I have no problem with. My little cousin was weaned of his dummy at around 4 but still sucked it every so often up until about 6, just as a comfort thing. Kingston probably just uses it rather than a blankie or a different type of soother. If I had camera’s in my face at every turn I would need some sort of soother.
Also, I have a 23 yr old cousin who still sucks her thumb occasionally and has no dental or speech issues!

I freaked out that my daughter had her paci until she turned 2. Talked to her dr and she told me kids are fine with one until age 4. She said she gave her kids one until 4, especially at places like the beach or places where they’d probably be putting gross stuff in their mouth.

Beverley, can I ask you something? Does your opinion apply to the Jolie-Pitt family? To the Obamas when they were on the campaign trail? To any parents who travel with their kids constantly? I think there are drawbacks to moving around so much, but is the alternative that we stay home constantly? Is it wrong to put a child in day care or preschool because by definition they’re not enjoying the comforts of home? Right? It seems to me that we have a lot more to worry about than a by all accounts loving, attentive, dedicated mom bringing her boys on tour. I’m more concerned about a mom with fourteen kids, or a teenager with even one. Seriously.

Kingston looks adorable and I highly doubt he is going to end up damaged because his hair is bleached. This is really a non-issue. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but stating that someone is a bad Mom for doing her job (Rock Star) and dying her kids hair that is a bit extreme. I don’t get why everyone thinks she is such a fashion plate. She looks like an overgrown teenager to me. I personally think she looks pretty ridiculous at all times, and it’s so depressing to see her subjecting her adorable boys to her strange taste in clothing. I have no problem with the binky, but seriously, I don’t think bleaching hair is good for anyone, and especially not little kids! Their skin is still soo sensitive!

But since you bring them up, I will answer you. The Jolie-Pitt kids are never anywhere for longer than a month or two. Imagine being a kid and not being sure where you will be in a month? That sounds pretty scary to me. What about school and friends? Or is that not important. Mad and Pax are both school aged. I think that the JP kids will be in therapy when they are adults talking about their insecurity and instability in their childhoods, a lot of which boils down to constantly moving about. I’m not bashing home schooling, but most home-schooled kids participate in activities with other kids to learn social skills. The Obamas had Michelle’s mother stay at home with the girls most of the time, so that they had stability and went to school and could see their friends. And they are in a stable home now and wherever their parents are, Grandma is with the girls. Kids who are in daycare and preschool come home at night. That is the stability I am talking about. Parents who want to travel at all times probably should have done that before having kids. Kids need stability and I would think that every single doctor and psychiatrist and developmental specialist will tell you that that is far more important than traveling is.

ummm who really cares so much about the dental issues w/ a pacifier how about the child “looks ridiculous” issues! Kids that suck on thumbs, pacifiers, and even breastfeed beyond a certain age simply look ridiculous!! And that’s my opinion so sorry if I offend anyone but that’s how I feel! I made my nephews give there’s up at 3 cause I told them they looked like babies (And guess what they did cause their mom was too afraid to be the bad guy). And it’s my honest opinion that when you give children baby things (i.e. baby bottles, paci’s, blankies etc) it’s only hindering there growth (and if you talk to certain pediatricians cause I know a few they will say the same thing)!!
oh and btw there is no excuse for adults to be sucking there thumbs….this is why you wean early so there is no rememberance of doing it cause I don’t buy the whole, let them give it up when ready so there not traumatized…please I have never met one grown adult who tells me about their horror stories of being weaned of ther beloved paci!! LOL

Anyways, in the end I don’t really care cause there not my kids but that’s just how I feel on it

My son will be 3 on the 11th of June and still has a bobo. My older son was over it by 13 months but whatev. He doesn’t suck it when he’s out and about but it soothes him at sleep times..once he falls asleep it falls out his mouth and rolls on floor anyway LOL!

Kingston is adorable when it is all said and done, he will remember the love from his parents and look at these pics and not feel gassed that his mom was so cool and he was such a trendsetting tot …..although Gwen does look like a teeny bopper ;?

I thought comments were supposed to be comments – not snide comments, not rude comments, but comments like ‘wow, Kingsten is getting big. Or wow, Gwen looks great after havinga baby. There are a lot of people on here JUDGING them. Please, there is only one person that should judge us! How would you all like it if we judged your kid, your spouse, your clothing, your hair, make-up, etc. Please people. And maybe, just maybe, the parents that are in the spotlight now with small children shelter their children because of the paparazzi. Heck, I don’t like it when strangers tell my kids ‘hi, you’re cute’. Imagine them, they have pap’s following them all the time. Maybe a pacifier, a blanket, a stuffed animal is their comfort item. We all have our little items that we love – could be a purse, a pair of shoes, food, etc. Lay off the rudeness and focus on the positive.

GAWD. Some of you people need to get over yourselves. They are the parents, let them parent their child (so long as its not in a harmful way) they way they choose. Does it really sound like a good idea to drag kids around the world all the time, not for my family. But that’s just it, its not MY family!
The hairstyle is cute. My little boy has a kinda natural mohawk going on which my inlaws desperately try to make lay down. We think its cute!
P.S. I agree with whoever said Gwen looks like an overgrown teen. I never really thought of her as “fashionable.” You can get that look by hanging out with a bunch of punk-wannabe teens!

And actually, now that I think of it….all kids have a comfort item. Some suck thumbs, some have blankets, some suck bunkies, my daughter, for example, chews on the ear of her stuffed lamb and rubs the other ear on her hand. You don’t take a kids blanket or stuffed animal away, and you can try but can’t stop a kid from sucking their thumb because you obviously can’t take that away, so why is it that the binkie babies have to lose their comfort item when all the other kids get theirs. I hope I am making sense. I have no plans on taking my daughter’s “lamby” away from her. It brings her, as corny as it sounds, comfort and joy and it harms no one.

Her brother gave his up at 8mths which was easy, literally spat the dummy and so that was good, esp if they don’t want it too long term IMO, but our 16mnth old attached to hers, very diff kids, and it works for sanity plus she’s still youngish. But never sure about a 3 or 4 year old with one, a tad old?!, but maybe that’s what works while out and about for them, for sanity, lol. Guess kids grow up of things eventually, realise that more with a 2nd, less panicked about stages etc, but I would be trying to break the habit and she does have nannies to help her do it!

Some of you women are so judgemental with your holier-than-thou opinions on Kingston needing to be weaned from his pacifier. There’s so much of an emphasis on your kids needing to do EXACTLY what kids their age should be doing when really, each child is different. There are many children that go on to have perfect speech and great teeth that had pacifiers until they were five. Every parent is different and to judge solely based on something so trivial just amazes me. There are some that need more comfort than others and maybe Kingston is one of those. My daughter is 18 months and she gets her choo choo before she takes naps because it soothes her to sleep. I’m not afraid of traumatizing her by taking it away, but she has an attachment to it so I make the compromise.

As for his hair, what if Kingston wanted his hair that way? His parents are rockers and some of their friends style their hairs in crazy sort of ways that maybe Kingston wanted to be like them. He’s so young that his hair is not going to be ruined for life because of ONE bleaching experience. Besides, these people pay thousands of dollars, they can afford to have high class conditioning and care for their hair. GET OVER IT!

I’m not a fan of the hair, but it’s not going to cause him harm, so each to their own. The dummy, however, is not IMO suitable at his age. Dental problems *can* arise from prolonged usage so it’s not a cosmetic issue. Realistically, it’s best for any child to not have a dummy at this age, but with mum and dad travelling so much, it may be a familiar comfort thing. The travelling is not a criticism BTW, it’s just a comment.

Every person in this world (famous and non) gets judged at one point or another. Gwen is not reading CBB so I don’t think the “snide” comments are harming her or her child. I think some people get upset for nothing at actually thinking that celebrities waste away their days trying to find out about what people think of them or how they parent.

And let me just verify with my binky comment that I always talk about children over a certain age. Yes, three imo is too old for it esp. out in public (bedtime is different). If it comes down to Kingston being frightened and it being a comfort thing how about letting the nanny take him inside while you sign autographs. Kingston doesn’t need to be hanging outside of Jimmy Kimmel with his mommy’s fans (have you ever seen paparazzi video of them outside these shows it’s a mad house of screaming people)! At the same time it’s been something that has been going on since he was born so he should be used to it by now.

I was just thinking, what if Kingston only uses the pacifier when their out? He might get anxious or scared around all the paps and so they let him have it for comfort while they are out, but for all we know, that could be the only time he uses one. Although I wouldn’t want my kid to still be sucking a pacifier at 3, I can’t pretend to know another family’s situation.

I’ve only been a mom for two months now and I’ve already been judged on my parenting by both family and complete strangers. But, the thing of it is, no one else really knows what it’s like to parent my child. I just don’t think it’s wise to judge other parents when you have no way of really knowing what their lives are like.

Such a cute little boy, but I have always had issue with parents who “style” their very young children. It’s one thing to give your child a cute haircut, but bleaching a young child’s hair is a little over the top. As a preschool teacher, I see so many little ones being pierced (and not just in the ears), hair colored all sorts of colors, and dressed up like little adults. I wish that parents could realize that these children are actually people and not just little dolls to do with them as they wish. I know that they are the parents, but I just wish that children wouldn’t be used as manniquins for their parents personal tastes.

I just have to point out that Gwen WAS NOT signing autographs with Kingston. I’ve seen the video of this – she was walking with him inside. And there was a huge crowd of fans yelling and screaming Gwen’s name – and Kingston’s as well! So I really do think it’s more of a comfort thing for him especially lately as he’s been looking more and more uncomfortable with paps.

Out of my 4 kids I had one who had a binky till 5! OMG GASP the HORROR! She is 8 and has fine teeth and is her speech is fine. I have a daughter who is 7 and sucks her thumb….I can’t cut it off now can I??? my other children took neither a binky nor a thumb they just cried for HOURS on end…that was fun…not really.

AS far as the hair…its just HAIR…it grows back, color fades….blah. My girls are all going to get one strip of one color each this summer in their hair…who does it hurt…NO ONE!

Kingston is the best dressed and best styled celeb baby so far!! He is super adorable…just like the rest of his family:)
As for the soother/paci/binkie…whatever you may call it, he is only 3, yes to me that is “pushing it” but any parent knows a child thrives for comfort wether it be their own bed, a toy, a blankie or a soother. Concidering King is always jet setting around the world it IS the only thing that remains the same….give the poor kid a break would yas?? B. i have no problem with the binki. to each their own. i also think that people who rely on the old standby of “it’s gonna mess up thier teeth” need to let it go because it’s not true. my brothers & my sister all sucked on one until four or five & they all have perfect teeth. i, on the other hand, never took one & i have very crooked teeth & a slight overbite. & people have commented on this post saying they have spoken to thier doctors & they say it’s fine. it’s all genetics & looking at gwen & gavin’s mouths, bad teeth are not going to be an issue for these boys!

overall, i think it’s just kind of rude to make such snide remarks about gwen & her parenting methods. gwen & gavin love those boys more than anything & they would never do anything to mess them up at all.

I really don’t think they bleached his hair, in the last few pics we’ve seen him in before this haircut his hair has been really bright blond naturally from spending time in the sun.

I’m not particularly against dyeing his hair, I wouldn’t do it personally to my 3 yr old, but from what I can see I don’t think they have dyed it in this case.

As for him having a pacifier, I think this is an American issue, perhaps because of the high dental bills you are landed with, lots of Americans are very anti-pacifier. It is only on this website that I heard people disapproving of the use of a pacifier beyond 12months. In Europe I had never heard this and regularly see toddlers and young children with them. I used one until I was 5-6, as did my brother and we both have perfect teeth, so I am inclined to think dental problems are more likely to be hereditary.

Michelle, I too am curious to know what piercings you find on pre-schoolers other than ears, that thought horrifies me much more than pacifiers and hair dye!

Kingston and Zuma are cuties. I think he looks pretty cool…I don’t see what the big deal is with the mohawk or his still taking a binky. I don’t think either one is hurting him. I am sure even though Gwen’s style isn’t conventional, she adores her sons and would never do anything detrimental to their well-being.

I’d be careful bringing up the piercing debate on this site. There’s a lot of double standards being applied. Lots of people thinks it’s okay to pierce a baby’s ears (most use the ‘it’s a cultural thing’ justification) but think it’s mutilation or abuse or just wrong, wrong, wrong to pierce a baby’s nose or lip or to tattoo them. Some cultures do that too but lots of mums on this site can’t extend their ‘it’s a cultural thing’ justification to cover it. What people should be admitting is ‘it’s okay when it’s part of my culture’.

Sometimes I think women can be each other’s worst enemies. Why are we so judgemental? Each of us has our own quirks as mums, and our own beliefs and cultures that we adhere too. But so many mums here get defensive (and go on the offensive) when something ‘different’ to their own way of doing things is presented.

Kingston appears to be a happy, healthy child. Who cares if his hair is dyed and he’s sucking on a dummy (pacifier)?

The comments about how Gwen is pushing her fashion sense onto her child are so beyond ridiculous. Don’t we ALL do that to our kids? Preppy moms dress their kids in khakis and polo, Conservative moms dress their girls in frilly dresses, and Rocker moms dress their kids in little rockstar clothes. I thought that was obvious and commonsense.Are the preppy moms also using their kids as a “fashion horse”? Or is that label just reserved for people who are different than you? Kingston isn’t wearing anything offensive or inappropriate. There isn’t just one right way to raise a kid.

I think Mohawks are fabulous. But was it also bleached??? Shame on any parent that dyes a 3 year old’s hair!! That’s right up there with plucking 3 year olds’ eye brows for beauty pageants. TOTALLY unnecessary.

Comparing extended pacifier or bottle use to extended breastfeeding is absolutely ridiculous. Nursing is actually hugely beneficial to speech and oral development; bottles and pacifiers are at BEST benign.

Lilybett, I completely empathise with your point of view and agree we should be more tolerant of other cultures, lifestyles and points of view. I didn’t mean to raise the piercing debate, I was just curious when Michelle said “As a preschool teacher, I see so many little ones being pierced (and not just in the ears), hair colored all sorts of colors, and dressed up like little adults” it didn’t seem like she was talking about children who were pierced for cultural reasons. I have never seen piercings, apart from ears, on children younger than 10 and was wondering what kinds of piercings these children have.

Sydney- I agree! I don’t think his hair is dyed, either. When I was a kid, my hair used to get bleached by the sun every year, so I can definently believe that the sun bleached Kingston’s hair, too.

Oh, I forgot…my dad sucked his thumb until he was 48…years that is. He has great teeth and speaks fine. I am not kidding, he only did it while lying down watching tv…with a corner of the blanket in his hand.

If I was my mom , I would have send his butt back home to momma!!!

There were at least 2 girls in my high school who openly sucked their thumb…one had buck teeth. Not related to Kingston as I think it’s a non-issue but just thought it was funny to mention this in light of those who feel 3 is too old for a bobo (binky).

Jeez people, chill out about the bleach!!! Sure he’s a bit young, but if you look close he has roots, which means that they didnt get the bleach near his scalp. Kingston has wicked cool style, cuz his parents do, Gwen has a funky clothing line, of course her kids are going to wear her stuff!! And my kids had their soothers taken away before 18months, but my kids werent expected to sleep on an airplane or a tour bus full of people while on tour with me or deal with people always taking your picture and calling your name to get a good shot, and I can tell you my kids wouldnt handle that well on a daily basis, so maybe it makes him feel better about not having a “normal” childhood, so therefor who gives a s**t as long as he’s not screaming and throwing a fit in front of all the papz!!

I think he’s adorable but what Sara wrote wasn’t exactly accurate. She said “by his age, dental and/or speech problems could be effects of prolonged use.” My oldest sucked a pacifer until the age of three and never had a speech problem and has perfect teeth. My youngest NEVER sucked a pacifer and had to take a year and a half of speech therapy. She also had to wear braces for two and half years. Kingston is just too big for it too look cute in his mouth anymore.

Im pretty sure Gwen doesnt like kingston to have that binky, who wants their kid sucking a binky at 3! carrying that nasty thing around looking for one around the house is a pain in the … he needs it and its to late to take it away with out tramatizing him. Why is sucking on a binky such a terrible thing? People are so caught up with “schedules” of when children should be doing this or that. Just let kids be kids for cornsake, and stop wondering why people do xy and z with their kids.

Spoke with both my orthdontist and dentist, who shared that binkys don’t pose speech or dental problems until after a certain age. My dentist said that his daughter, who’s 3, still likes her binky at bedtime

I’ve lost some respect for Gwen as a parent; she isn’t doing Kingston (almost 3, hello!!) any favors by allowing him to use a pacifier. She needs to put her foot down, be the adult, and force him to move on. Should only take a couple of days; he’s old enough to understand; kids aren’t stupid. I have been a nanny for over 17 years and I don’t think I could be their nanny; I feel for their nannies and wish them luck in that household!

Nyla- I agree. I also think that’s partly the reason why Suri still had a bottle until last Fall.

Andy- Maybe he didn’t say those things, but it’s very possible that he DID ask to have “cool” hair like the band members.

L.J.- “…for cornsake” LOL! Anyway, I agree with you. I have read that pacifers really don’t pose much of a threat until the permant teeth start coming in around age 5 or so.

All of that said, I don’t think it’s fair for use to accuse Gwen of dying Kingston’s hair when we have absolutly no proof that that is the case. Also, if we’re going to accuse Gwen of that, shouldn’t we be accusing Gavin, too?

Laurie- Why only Gwen? What about Gavin? Isn’t he partially to blame for still letting Kingston use a binky, too (which, by the way, I don’t have an issue with)?

Anyway, remember that we don’t live the kind of life they do. We don’t have paps and such to deal with. For all we know, Kingston only has the paci when they are dealing with the paps. We don’t know what goes on behind closed doors.

Courtney the sarcasm isn’t necessary. How nice for you that your kids will get a streak of color in their hair. I personally think it’s odd when people decide to color small kids and pets hair. If the child isn’t asking for the coloring than obviously it’s just something the parent wants thinking it’ll be cool and fun. Why do that to a kid, especially when they aren’t asking for it? Kids should be kids and not your fashion accessory.

Okay, I see your point but either way…there are many celebrity children out there photographed all the time and don’t seem to have a need like that; of course we really don’t know what goes on, but he’s also photographed a lot without it. I also recall seeing photos of Suri with a bottle well past the age of 2 and Lisa Kudrow’s son was photographed years ago with a pacifier past the age of 3 or 4 I believe. I am just coming from the perspective of giving children the independence and respect to grow into people; giving them confidence. I realize there also may be guilt these celeb parents have…look at Leah Remini…she has admitted to having a daughter they allow anything…4 years old and on a bottle and whatever she wants. Oy! Oh and yes, the fathers are responsible too.
