Trisha Yearwood Says Step-Daughters Have 'Varied Taste in Music'

With Trisha Yearwood for a step-mom and Garth Brooks for a dad, there is no shortage of country star power on hand for Garth’s three daughters Taylor, 16, August, 15, and Allie, 12 ½. Still, the couple don’t allow their own musical tastes to dictate the preferences of the girls. “It’s probably kind of odd for our children to be in a house with two country artists,” Trisha notes, “but we’ve never said this is what you need to listen to because this is what we do.”

As a result, Taylor, August and Allie — Garth’s children with ex-wife Sandy Mahl — have developed ”real varied taste in music,” Trisha reveals, adding:

“They love Taylor Swift of course, but I still love it when we’re in the car and an old country song comes on the radio and they know it. It makes me happy.”

The author of Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen: Recipes from My Family to Yours, Trisha says that family meals remain a priority but with three busy girls all living under the same roof, it’s “sometimes hard to eat together.”

“It’s more like, ‘Here’s what’s going on today, who can make dinner?’ But we really eat home a lot and enjoy eating home cooked meals.”

I think it’s really nice that Trisha refers to the kids as “our children” and not as “Garth’s children.” I think it’s so nice for kids to have step-parents who don’t treat them like outsiders. And I also like that Trisha has always had such high praise for the kids’ mother Sandy.

I only listen to Country music and this family is amazing. Garth and his ex wife both live within minutes of each other. They did this so Garth nor Sandy never have to really be apart from there children. And Sandy has actually given Garth and Trisha her blessing I believe. It’s actually a really touching story if you could find something about it.

I am surprised by the lack of outrage about Trisha’s relationship with Garth and his daughters compared to the venom that comes out whenever there’s a post about Tori or Gisele. Whether it’s the cheating charges or the step-child issues, those two are treated like scum but when it’s Trisha (or Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock for that matter) hey those were just tabloid rumors.

I do think Sandy is a class act for not holding a grudge (at least not outwardly) for her girls’ sakes. It’s hard enough to see another woman with your ex, even when she isn’t the one who broke up the marriage. Still Sandy does what’s best for the kids and that means getting along with Garth and Trisha so that all three adults can have positive impacts on the girls. I’m just shocked by the difference in treatment toward some “homewreckers” and “she’s not his mom, she’s just the stepmom” and others. It’s weird.

I don’t believe Gisele was a homewrecker I think Tom was broken up with Brigette before hand. I mean I find this ridiculous that now we are pointing fingers at who is a homewreck and who isn’t. Trish Yearwood is a classy lady so please do not degrade her to be a homewrecker you don’t know there story. And another thing I would just like to bring up the fact that we only mention women as being the homewreckers. You know if you wanna classify Gisele as a homewrecker how bout you include her husband Tom Brady and talk about how he left his pregnant girlfriend but then again we don’t know the whole story. I think we judge way to quick without knowing what is going on in the home. And another things you don’t see Trisha Yearwood out on the town stumbling all over the place so lets give her some credit for being a stand up and classy woman.

Well Teenie, the reason why the different situations got different responses is because those comments were made by DIFFERENT people. I was not the one who made those comments about Gisele, Sandra and Julia. Perhaps the people who were appalled by this situation are appalled by Trisha as well, but I’m not the person who said those things. So I don’t see any inconsistency there.

Trisha Yearwood is a very classy woman. I hate it when people call her a homewrecker. In the 20 years they knew each other before becoming a couple they never had an affair. Trisha Yearwood is not that type of woman. And Garth is not that kind of man. I do appluade them on how well keep things civil with each other. I am a huge fan of both of them and I have kept up with them for years. I am a dedicated fan of Trisha’s and Garth. The people who say negative things have nothing better to do then to talk smack. I appluade Trisha she is an amazing woman a woman with a beautiful heart and wonderful soul. so please dont post anything negative about some one you dont personally know.

Who cares if in the 20 years before becoming a couple they never had an affair. The fact is that they did have an affair. Let’s call a spade a spade. They are both “like that”! Trisha is a tramp and Garth is a cheater…but hey, who am I to judge…they will have to answer to a much higher power than I.
