MamaOm: Eco-friendly, Mommy and Me Beachwear

There is nothing like a snowy winter to get me dreaming of the beach and whenever I think of beachwear I think of the eco-friendly beachwear and accessories from MamaOm.

This upscale boutique carries matching mother-daughter beachwear and accessories designed with the age of the wearer in mind — no mini versions of mom’s bikini here!  The owners take pride in using only 100% organic and natural materials.

MamaOm also offers shoes ($36-38) and great organic t-shirts ($20-34) among other things. Little Honor Warren was recently photographed wearing the monokini!

MamaOm is a one-stop shop for eco-friendly beachwear for both you and your little girl!

Is it just me or does that bikini look too young for a mom and too old for a little girl?

- Sarah on

I absolutely love this line, they have super cute styles. And organic apparel, their organic fabric is the nicest I have found yet, with cool designs.

- Liz on

Dressing up like your kid or vice versa is kinda whacky! IMO.

- Joloda on

I agree with you Joloda. Its a litte out there when mom & daughter/dad & son dress “EXACTLY” the same. Same colors is okay, but exact outfit….umm, no!

- Posie on

Doesn’t the mom in the pic look like Samantha from ANTM cycle 8?

- j on

I’m sorry, but the bathing suits in the picture are wildly inappropriate for anyone, never mind a little girl!

- Tee on

I think the model looks like Lily Aldridge

- Stevie on

My daughter would never be allowed to wear this on a beach!

“Is it just me or does that bikini look too young for a mom and too old for a little girl?”

Mothers come in all ages. Since when does being a mom mean you have to dress older?

- plS on

plS – I agree. I’m 26 and happened to have a couple of their bikinis and I’m a momma. I really really like their clothes! I’m proud of the way my body looks after baby! I worked my butt off to look the way I do.

And to “Tee” I don’t understand what is “wildly inappropriate” about those bathing suits, especially for a grown woman. Now, I won’t let my little girl wear the triangle top bikinis and stuff, but she can definitely wear 2 pieces. She actually has this one https://www.mamaom.com/yoga_124/Blooming-Berry.htm and I don’t see anything wrong with it.

“no mini versions of mom’s bikini here!”

Um, isn’t that EXACTLY what the little girl is wearing?

I would love for a swimsuit company to make suits with real moms in mind, i.e. not all of us look like supermodels & actresses after we have kids. some of us have crazy mom bellies with stretchmarks, but it doesn’t mean we want to be completely covered up in a dowdy one-piece.

- elleone on

plS,
AMEN!We are a young family with a little one and i dont find these inappropriate at all for a 24 year old mother. Unfortunately I dont have the body to wear this at the moment, but if you do have the body for it then i say “you go girl”!I think the little girls swim suit is a lot better than having little girls go with no tops out on the beach like some people seem to find okay. If its a religious issues that condemn this outfit than people do need to respect that. Personally for me…all of these swimsuits are just absolutely adorable!

Tee and Cherry – just out of curiosity, how old are your children and what do they wear on the beach? cute suits. wish i looked like the mommy in the ad :)

- brannon on

i forgot…how about some mama/son collections :) we look cute together too :) we have some lily and marthas vineyards sets but always looking for more fun patterns…

- brannon on

Cute fabrics for the bikinis, but what a shame the one piece range is so tiny. If they expanded their one piece range to have a nicer, wider range of fabrics I’d be interested.

- Amelie on

I wouldn’t want to wear the same bikini as my daughter, I just don’t like matching.
But the bikini is really cute for a little girl. Nothing inappropriate about it.

Most little girls will pull the top of while playing anyway, although that would probably shock people on this site too.

- Anna on

That bikini is WAY too inappropriate for a little girl.

- Mary-Helen on

Brannon – I’m not either of the posters you asked this of, but I figured I’d answer since I agree with both of them that I would not put the swimsuit in the picture on my daughter. My daughter is three, and she wears the basic one-piece, tank style swimsuits. No bikinis with triangle tops, etc., any of that stuff. She’s a young child, and I find it inappropriate to dress her in an adult style swimsuit. I think children should be dressed like children.

- Anne on

I don’t give a crap if those bikinis were made of the most organic material in this planet, it is entirely shameful to be putting a young girl in one.

I can’t even fathom why someone would even think a bikini on a small child is even mildly appropriate.

- Andy. on

I think its appropriate. If you don’t like it you dont have to buy it.

- Anon on

I think the suit is appropriate for a girl her age, but if this was a 10 year old, i would say no way.
The ‘mom’ has a rockin bod, so if you’ve got it, flaunt it!!

- jordyn on

Brannon, I don’t believe that bikinis are appropriate. In my family, we teach our children that modesty is important. There is nothing modest about a bikini, no matter if it is on an adult or a child. I know it sounds like I’m passing judgement on people that do wear them. I’m really not… there’s just no way for me to state my opinion on this subject without it sounding judgemental. People are going to read whatever they want into my opinion. So be it.

Charley, I’ll say it again. I really am not intending to pass judgement on people that wear or allow their children to wear bikinis. I’m sorry if it sounds that way. I always try to make sure that I state my opinions as respectfully as possible. However, it’s just that. It’s my opinion. I’m sure your little girl enjoys her swim suit. I love playing in the water with kids.

And just for the record, yes, my religion and culture would never tolerate this outfit. (old-order Mennonite) However, I wasn’t raised in the Mennonite faith. I was raised in the Baptist faith and I still would not have found this outfit appropriate for anybody, no matter the age.

- Tee on

Um, there girls swim suits do look like mini versions of the adult swim suits. There were tons of triangle tops on their site.

“Is it just me or does that bikini look too young for a mom and too old for a little girl?”

Well I’m 23 and a mom to two and one on the way. If I wasn’t pregnant at the moment I’d probably wear a bikini this summer. I’m petite with a small chest, some women look better in bikinis, others look better in one pieces. I personally look flat chested in one pieces so I’ll continue to wear a bikini until I can’t pull it off anymore, but I don’t forsee that coming anytime soon since my mom is in her late 40s and still looks great in a bikini. Moms don’t have to dress in ‘grandma’ clothes, some chose to but it’s definitely not a requirement
