Nature's Baby Organics: Chemical-Free Hair and Skincare

05/14/2009 at 02:30 PM ET

My first experience with Nature’s Baby Organics was when I received a gift set at my daughter’s baby shower. Aria was born eight weeks prematurely and once she came home from her stay in the NICU, I embraced the idea of using natural products on her delicate skin.

Developed by a mom whose daughters developed eczema and allergies to chemicals and dyes, Nature’s Baby Organics products are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates (a bonding agent), propylene glycol and fragrance and are ideal for babies, children and even adults with sensitive skin.

The Lavender-Chamomile Shampoo & Body Wash (which also comes in a Vanilla-Tangerine Scent) ($10 for 8 oz.; $18 for 16 oz.) has a subtle, calming scent and lathers instantly. Though my now-23-month-old daughter’s hair isn’t long enough to need the Conditioner/Detangler, I tried it on my own curly hair and it left my locks very smooth. Every night after her bath, I lather her in the Face & Body Moisturizer ($12), which melts right into the skin without being sticky and is formulated from enriching organic aloe vera, olive oil and calendula extract. I’ve also become a fan of the preservative-free Diaper Cream ($12), made from sunflower, cocoa butter and castor seed oil and enriched with soothing Vitamins A and E.

Other products in the Nature’s Baby Organics line include the Organic Baby Oil ($11), which — unlike many baby oils — isn’t made with the mineral oil (a petroleum by-product); the “PU” All  Purpose Deodorizer ($12), which comes in Vanilla Tangerine or Lovely Lavender scents and is a natural alternative to chemical-heavy Lysol; the Organic Soothing Stick ($10), perfect for treating dry patches or chapped skin; and the Ah-Choo Chest Rub ($11), made from eucalyptus and tea tree for relieving sniffles and congestion.

We are an all organic and all natural family. I LOVE these products. I use the conditioner on my own hair. It works better than any other all natural conditioner I’ve tried.

For full disclosure, these products (like many others titled “organic”) are not all organic. They contain non-organic ingredients and only the USDA certified organic products (3 in their line) should be truely called organic.

While this product is not completely 100% organic, it is made mostly from organic ingredients. My children both have eczema, I use Natures Baby Face and Body cream religiously on them. It smells nice and leaves their skin just as soft and delicious as the day they were born. It is a little on the expensive side but well worth it.

Thank you for the nice review. I wanted to address one of the comments regarding organics. We do have 4 USDA certified organic products now, we were able to make our Baby Powder USDA. The majority of the rest of our line falls under the “Made with Organic” claim where products are made with a minimum of 70% certified organic ingredients. Being that we are a baby line, it is currently impossible for our shampoos, lotions, etc to be USDA certified as the only recognized and acceptable preservative is alcohol which we feel is not suitable for infant skin. We have had a third party vendor come in a certify that the organic content used in our products actually ends up in our products.

Organic products are an option and they usually cost more.
There are many other products at a more reasonable price.
I most certainly would like to win this prize to experience
the effects of these products on my grandson. Great Price
to Win! Cheers

I used to have puffy dry skin under my eyes…very sensitive. I’ve used other under eye creams and end up irritating my eyes, since most contain alchohol and other chemicals. What solved my problems was the Made from Earth Olive Night Creme. I tried over night and the next morning felt refreshed. My under eye area was soft, moisturized and HYDRATED. I use it once or twice a week.

I’ve been using it for quite a while now and I’ve seen a dramatic difference. I found that by applying it and then laying down – I kid you not, you’ll see better and immediate results if you do it that way and look great!

I’m completely sold on the Olive Night Creme (from Made from Earth) and am stocked for the next 3 months 🙂
