My son was born with a meningocele, which is a form of spins bifida. He had a small lump on his head at birth which later on determined as water in his brain. His case ended up to be mild and he just recently had surgery at 13 months to have the lump removed. He is now 15 months and walking around as a happy boy. I never knew much about this birth defect but now I am geared up for any future pregnancies. Nicole and Boris have helped me so much already with their strong message about folic acid. I thank them for that!!

When I first learned of her birth defect, I was distraught. I was told several disturbing stories about, the many complications that Spina Bifida brings, but I felt, I was not told the joyous moments would come behind them. My daughter is beautiful,very intelligent
and also a little diva. My daughter Wry’on will be the “Miss America” of her time. Even though she have a disadvantage, she also have brains and beauty too. I just learned of Sophie’s story today and I immediately googled your site. Her story is very inspiring and it also make other parents that are raising a child with Spina Bifida open up too. They are so cute and look like they really go the extra mile to be happy. Their kiddies are soooo freaking adorable. I really admire their strength and determination with lil Sophie. It’s hard having to deal and come to terms and having a sick child, feeling like its your fault, that GOD my daughter is fine and so far as are my unborn twins, but to have to catherize your child is really heartbreaking. I’m glad they want her to know how private that situation is. Alot of other celeb parents, and possibly “normal” parents would have opted for nurses and aides, but I’m glad to hear they are doing all that they ca as parents to make her comfty. GOsh I love how she [Sophie} stated that one day she wouldn’t have to caterize anyway, it melts your heart to know that at that young of an age, she has hope! GOD bless them =)
