Elmo and The Bookaneers: Pirates Who Love To Read

Arrrgh, Matey! Great news from the high seas: Genius Products and Sesame Street Workshop have teamed up once again to bring the latest Elmo DVD, Elmo and the Bookaneers: Pirates Who Love to Read ($15) to your TV.

The “Bookaneers,” led by the hilarious Tina Fey, have come ashore on Sesame Street, and they want to plunder Elmo’s bookshelf. When Elmo finds out how much they love to read, he can’t wait to become a bookaneer himself.

Highlights include a Bert and Ernie claymation series about treasure (my three-year-old loves this part), a song by Abby Cadabby and an Elmo’s World segment about books (in which Mr. Noodle is especially hilarious).

Regular viewers of the series will have already seen all of this and that may make you hesitant to get the DVD but I promise you, to a preschooler it is good enough to watch over and over again.
