Jessica Alba Deals with Honor's Teething

Ramey

Daughter Honor Marie may only be 11 months old, but her mother, Jessica Alba, is noticing distinct changes in appearance. “She’s getting new teeth every day,” Jessica, 28, told PEOPLE at the EIF/Revlon Run/Walk for Women. And though her daughter – who “doesn’t walk, but she’s crawling around and pulling herself up” – is always “covered in lots of drool,” the actress admits, “she’s the best thing in the world!”

As for life with Honor, whose father is Jessica’s husband, producer Cash Warren, “Every day is totally different,” says the proud mom. “The love is deeper every day. It’s unreal, and you just want to protect them from everything.”

But she may not be the center of attention for long. “I’m hoping to definitely have more kids,” Jessica says. “Whatever happens, I’m not setting a certain number. I think in life you’re always surprised and a few more kids are certainly in my future.”

For now, the focus is on throwing the perfect first birthday party for Honor on June 7th. “I have to work right before her birthday,” Jessica says. “I was thinking about having it after her birthday – just a little brunch with her friends from music class.”

Yep…nothin’ like scheduling your child’s Birthday around your work schedule…I LOVE little Honors chubby little legs!

She’s scheduling the party not the birthday around her schedule. I’m pretty sure there’s no rule against that.

Also sometimes parents have to work on their children’s birthdays. Not all parents (no matter what business they are in) can simply take a day off work because it’s their child’s birthday. (I know my mom didn’t) Doesn’t mean she can’t celebrate with her in the morning or in the evening or the following weekend or something. And of course push the party itself back a few days to make sure that she is completely available.

Laura- ITA! Also, it’s not like Honor’s going to remember her 1st birthday anyway.

I always have to work on my son’s birthday- September is the busiest month at my job, and while I work 18 hours a week for 11 months of the year, in September I have to work full time. Does this mean I am a bad mother because we celebrate my son’s birthday the last weekend in August?

I don’t see anything wrong with Jessica scheduling around work. It’s life. It happens. But I thought her comment, “…just a little brunch with her friends from music class,” was so sweet :)

Lis- I agree and also loved her comment about just a brunch with her friends from music class! So refreshing and very different from the huge birthday parties costing thousands of dollars and more for show and status than fun and celebrating the child’s life.

Louise,, you’re rigth… but its like, i mean, we are real mamas hahaha,, we just cannot say “im not going to work today”, but when you are Jessica Alba, im pretty sure that you could.

- Mariel on

Mariel, we don’t know that. Maybe Jessica really can’t get out of it. She is that famous (no offense to her of course). Besides, if she gets a bad reputation at work for skipping out, she won’t be hired for future gigs/movies. And, Honor is one so it’s not like she’s going to even realize it’s her birthday.

Mariel…Just because you’re an actress you can’t stop production for one day to celebrate a birthday. Yeah, it may be your child’s birthday but they have a set schedule to follow. I just think Jessica was casually saying she has to work before Honor’s birthday, not that she won’t celebrate on the day with her little girl.
