Taboo and Jaymie Celebrate With a Blue and Brown Baby Shower

Boom, boom, blue! So was the color spotted everywhere last weekend in San Diego at a baby shower held for Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo and his wife Jaymie, who will be welcoming their own little pea — a boy! — this summer.

With Paper Shouts inviting guests including comedian Jo Koy and fellow Black Eyed Peas member apl.de.ap out to the event with invitations that matched the blue and brown color theme, the afternoon was spent listening to a wide variety of music selected by none other than Taboo’s 15-year-old son Josh, who lent his DJ talents for the celebration. Appropriately, the guests and new parents-to-be also enjoyed a round or two of ‘Guess the Celebrity Baby and Parents!’

The guests were treated to a Mexican and Filipino inspired buffet — symbolizing both the couple’s cultures — with a dessert table covered in chocolate chip cookies, cheese rolls, guava pastries, and mini fruit cakes. As for the main cake, Taboo and Jaymie offered their guests quite the selection! Among the choices provided by Merengue Bakery: chocolate, strawberry, red velvet, yellow cake, white cake, and Cuban style.

When the guests packed up to head home, they were gifted with customized blue, white, and brown m&m’s that had been decorated with the couple’s face inside tiny, baby blue alphabet boxes; As for Jaymie, she was thrilled to receive a few great gifts of her own, among them an Orbit stroller and a Gucci diaper bag.

“The music, food, and having our close family and friends all together supporting another momentous moment in our lives [was my favorite part of the day],” shares Jaymie.

Congrats to them, this comment is in no way about their upcoming arrival.

But these “celebrity baby showers,” AKA advertisements, are LAME.

I LOVE her dress – anyone know who it is?

- brannon on

Love this color combination, pink and brown also beautiful together.

- Denise Briggs on

It looks pretty. What does “Regrets only: Leslie” mean?

- Anna on

That’s great, I’m sure baby will grow up with an appreciation for different cultures.

- lafokinmoda on

THAT WAS MY THEME TOO!
love it! we had a boy but it could be nuetral too.

- french gigi on

anna: “regrets only: leslie” is for the people who received the invite. if they couldn’t make it, they were to call leslie… i’m supposing key details, like location, leslie’s last name, and phone number were edited out for the purpose of the post…in other news,i like how the incorporated taboo’s older son into the party by letting him dj…the larger the age gap is, the more difficult it can be to really feel like you’re a part of it.

Jaymie looks pretty. Love her dress, too.
It’s nice that they are making their heritage a big part of their lives.

- Meream on

I love the invitation and colors. Anna: “Regrets only” means you don’t have to RSVP if you’re you’re coming, only if you’re not. The contact person’s name is Leslie apparently.

- Chris on

Where is her dress from? Anyone know?

I’m with you Allison! Congrats but a bit over the top to me, especially when they’re probably not hard-up financially anyhow, must be more an American thing as here in NZ it’s not so all-out!, have baby showers generally with first bub only here, but more low-key, but these are celebrity ones we’re seeing I guess, after all. Having said that, like their colour schemer and cute cake. Hope all goes well with their baby boy.

I keep looking at those cakes. They’re cute, but after hearing the flavors, I wouldn’t mind sampling a few…lol. Seems like it was a nice shower, too.

Allison- Are you trying to say that celebs shouldn’t have baby showers?

- CelebBabyLover on

Nope, not trying at all to say that celebs shouldn’t have baby showers. But this kind of shower is solely thrown to get press. Notice how each photo is “courtesy of Paper Shouts.”

A few companies who want to get some PR get together and throw the shower. They pay for everything, plan everything, and then publicize it to outlets like Celebrity Baby Blog. It isn’t about a shower – it is about free publicity for them. Notice how the main highlights in this story are Paper Shouts, some bakery, and the brand name products. I simply don’t appreciate the hype from these companies.

I have no problems with celebs having a baby shower – just think these canned ones are lame. They are just trying to get us to buy the sponsors invitations or cakes.
