Matthew Broderick on James Wilkie's Latest Milestone

Bruce Glikas/FilmMagic

When 6 ½-year-old James Wilkie Broderick soon welcomes his new twin sisters, he’ll do so with a gummy grin! Proud dad Matthew Broderick revealed during a recent appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly that his son recently lost his first tooth, and his reaction was just what you would expect. “It was very fun to watch him wander around like this,” the 47-year-old said, demonstrating by putting his finger in the space where the tooth had been and looking dazed.

“I’d say, ‘James!’ And he’d say, ‘What? What?’ He couldn’t concentrate on anything else.”

The process was a slow one; Matthew went on to reveal that one night James visited he and wife Sarah Jessica Parker in their bedroom to give them an update. “I said, ‘How’s it feeling?’” Matthew recalled. “And his tooth was flat…like, parallel to the floor.”

“[I said] the tooth comes out, and a grown-up tooth comes in.”

Matthew can currently be seen in the Broadway production The Philanthropist.

Report: Jennifer Hudson Is Pregnant

Derek Storm/Splash News Online

Grammy-winning singer and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson can add mom-to-be to her resume after a weekend baby shower in her honor was held in downtown Chicago, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Felicia Fields, a longtime friend of the Jennifer, confirmed to the paper that the event happened on Saturday.

“It was a baby shower, a quiet gathering of friends and mostly family,” Fields, also a singer and actress, said of a gathering in a relative’s home. “They’re really trying to keep it kind of quiet.”

She added: “It was a nice time that we had.”

When asked if Jennifer received blue or pink gifts, Felicia said, “They don’t know [the gender]. More yellow.”

Another paper, the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Jennifer is seven months along.

Jennifer, 27, who is engaged to Harvard-educated-lawyer-turned-wrestler David Otunga, has also kept mum about her upcoming wedding date.

Lansinoh Diaper Rash Ointment: Lanolin For The Softest Skin

Lansinoh, the company known for their pure lanolin products that breastfeeding mothers swear by for healing cracked nipples, has a new diaper rash ointment ($6) that’s amazing. It’s a soft, fragrance-free, preservative-free cream that goes on white then rubs in clear. It contains three skin protectants: medical grade lanolin, dimethicone and zinc oxide. It helped us knock out a nasty diaper rash in no time.

Please note that lanolin, naturally hypoallergenic and bacteriostatic, is a wax secreted by sheep and extracted from their wool so vegans will want to steer clear of this product or anything containing lanolin. (It’s also used in many cosmetics.)

Car Seat Comfort Footrest: No More Dangling Legs

We like the Car Seat Comfort Footrest ($30), available exclusively from One Step Ahead, because it turns your car seat into an ottoman — supporting little legs that usually dangle from car seats. It improves blood circulation by reducing pressure on children’s legs. And yes, it may divert them from kicking the back of the seat! There are several positions for the footrest, pick the one that’s the best for your child.

It will support up to 60 pounds and will fit any convertible car seat used forward-facing or booster seat. And importantly, children should not use any part of the footrest to get into their car seat. Also, it should not be used with infant car seats.

It’s simple to install: Undo your car seat’s buckles,  slide it under your carseat or booster seat, re-buckle the car seat, and then adjust the height and angle of the footrest.

Tori Spelling Raves About Making Own Baby Food

Santiago Baez/Ramey

Tori Spelling may have grown up in a famed 123-room mansion with servants at the ready, but she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty in the kitchen. The 36-year-old actress delights in preparing homemade baby food for daughter Stella Doreen, 11 months. “People are probably like, ‘Tori Spelling doesn’t do that. She probably has someone that cooks for her,’” she says in a new video posted to MySpace. “No, actually I don’t…And I actually make my own baby food!”

When son Liam Aaron, 2, was first introduced to solids Tori fed him only jarred organic baby food. She charted a similar course with Stella before turning to the food processor, and says that the difference was immediately apparent.

“She’s an eater. Like, she loves her bottle. She would take the [jarred] food and she was fine with it. But once I made my own baby food…I literally gave it to her that first day, it was a spoonful, and her face lit up. She had this huge smile.”

Stella’s reaction was so positive, in fact, it left Tori longing for the camera crew that normally follows her family for Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. This is an infomercial of why you should make your own baby food,’” she recalls. “It’s happening right here in my backyard and no one is here to see it.” Noting that jarred food contains preservatives and is often bland, Tori says that Stella is now hooked on her fresh fruits and veggies, and there will be no going back — for mother or daughter.

“It was so amazing. Ever since then, I’m like, I’m telling you: Make your own baby food. Because it’s such a huge difference for them.”

Stella and Liam are Tori’s children with husband Dean McDermott, who also has son Jack Montgomery, 10, from a previous marriage.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor Raves About Age Difference Between Sons

Eliot Press/Bauer Griffin

The question of timing is usually an issue when parents contemplate making their firstborn a big brother or sister, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor says that the age gap between sons Sonny, 5, and Kit, 3 ½ months, has been ideal. “[It has] worked out well for us as Sonny is very secure in his world and able to understand a little bit about the demands Kit has,” she explains. “I try to make the effort to spend quality time with Sonny when Kit is asleep.”

“I don’t think Sonny feels he’s lost me to the baby too much. He still seems very happy and cheerful in any case.”

Sophie — who continues to nurse Kit, whom she describes as “a hungry little piglet” – admits that breastfeeding hasn’t always been “the easiest choice,” especially in light of his premature delivery. For the first five weeks of his life, Sophie expressed her milk every three to four hours, something she describes as “emotionally draining.” At the same time, the circumstances steeled her reserve.

“I missed having my baby with me but I was very determined. It felt like the one job I could do that none of the doctors or nurses could so I kept going with it.”

As for Sophie’s recovery, the 30-year-old songstress says she feels “pretty good.” Sleep deprivation is an issue, but exercise has helped combat her fatigue. Sophie shares that she’s not focusing on losing weight, however, for breastfeeding has her feeling hungrier than ever! “I just want to feel fit and healthy,” she explains. “For any new mums I think it’s essential to take it slowly with getting rid of the baby weight. Not least because it’ll stay off if you lose weight with healthy eating and exercise rather than some crash diet.” Sophie has also enjoyed returning to work; She recently shot a video for her new single “Heartbreak.” Although it felt “strange and hard” to be away from her new baby, Sophie says “it felt good to be dressing up and performing again.” She adds,

“It’s absolutely not time for me to hang up my microphone just yet and I hope Sonny and Kit enjoy being along for the ride.”

Sonny and Kit are Sophie’s children with husband Richard Jones.
