Pittsburgh Penguin Chris Kunitz Welcomes a Son

Debora Robinson/NHLI/Getty

Wednesday was a day to remember for Pittsburgh Penguin Chris Kunitz. Not only did his team jump out to a 1-0 lead in their NHL quarterfinal series with the Philadelphia Flyers, the 29-year-old left winger welcomed his first child. Zachary James Kunitz was born at 9:41 a.m., leaving Chris’ status for that night’s game in doubt.

“Leading up to it, I wasn’t sure [if I would play]. I just waited to see how my wife felt and to talk it over, make sure the baby was okay and all that kind of stuff.”

Fortunately, it didn’t take long to make up his mind! “We had called the team to let them know we had a baby, and I told them I’d call them back,” Chris explained; By noon, he revealed that he would indeed take the ice.

Zachary is also the first child for Chris’ wife Maureen, whom he married in July 2008.

Tori Spelling: Liam, Stella Are 'Natural-Born Entertainers'

Gilbert Flores/Celebrity Photo

Tori Spelling need not look far to find her favorite part of motherhood: the answer stares her in the face — literally — every day! In a new interview with PEOPLE, the mother of two, while cupping her 2-year-old son Liam Aaron‘s face in her hands, shares that the joy of parenthood has brought her entirely new experiences, and with that a complete sense of happiness. “Every day is something new; They’re so funny and beautiful and smart,” she gushes. “I’m sure every mom feels the exact same way.”

While little Liam has blossomed into a “mellow boy,” Tori laughs that her 10-month-old daughter Stella Doreen has no problem with exercising her lungs! “Stella is the loud girl and she wants what she wants when she wants it — just like all of us girls,” she jokes. “Liam is kind of, just like, the thinker of the family.”

As their personalities continue to shine through, the actress admits that a future in show business for her brood would be far from disappointing. “That’s all I know and it’s been an amazing life,” she explains. “I just want to make sure they’re educated as I would want to make sure in any profession they choose to go into.” While Tori is hopeful that her kids will choose a career path that they are “passionate about,” she can’t help but notice that the duo are already budding stars!

“They really are natural-born entertainers. Liam loves to dance, he loves to show off for everyone. Stella loves to make you laugh and she’s only [10] months old. It’s pretty funny how they kind of follow suit without even trying.”

With her recent launch of Mommywood, the 35-year-old shares that in addition to giving her fans a glimpse into her family life, her countless stories of motherhood were “so relevant right now” as she learns to “balance a career and make it in Hollywood.”

The Children's Place and Celebs Team Up to Help Kids

Backstage at the Kids’ Choice Awards on March 22nd, the buzz wasn’t about Dwayne Johnson wearing a dress — it was about The Children’s Place working to help those less fortunate. The store teamed up with celebrities — including Chace Crawford (left), Paula Abdul, Debra Messing and David Archuleta — who took a break to decorate their own The Children’s Place messenger bags. The bags — chic totes for boys and girls — feature designs and autographs from the stars, and will be available on eBay from April 14th through the 24th. All proceeds will benefit the Books for Kids Foundation.

Founded to promote literacy among all children with a special emphasis on low-income and at-risk preschool-aged children, Books for Kids creates libraries, donates books and partners with literacy programs to develop the critical early foundation and skills which young children need to be successful in life. Check the bags out here!
