Nick Cannon Calls Pregnancy Rumors 'Disrespectful'

Isaac Brekken/AP

Ask Nick Cannon about his purchase of a new home with wife Mariah Carey and the newlyweds are willing to dish; However, pry into their family plans and the couple’s lips are sealed. While Nick cleared up any rumors surrounding their new house — “it’s not the billion-dollar one everyone thinks” — he chooses to stay mum on the topic of starting a family. “Everyone wants to know!” he laughs.

Instead, Nick’s advice for their fans is to simply sit back and relax — nature will take its course! While the pair may be used to the tabloid attention, the 28-year-old feels the constant pregnancy speculation has simply gone too far. “Give my wife the respect she needs, the respect you’d give any woman,” he pleads.

“You don’t just go around saying, ‘Yeah, she’s pregnant.’ How disrespectful is that?”

Nick and Mariah will celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary next week.

A cozy and casual Jessica Leccia — due in June with her first child — rests her hands on her belly while posing for a photo at Buy Buy Baby on Monday in NYC.

The Guiding Light star, 33, recently told Soap Opera Digest that her main pregnancy craving has been ice cream, which she’s all about eating after some time away from the treat.

“I started eating ice cream again. I hadn’t eaten it in awhile, but I’m back on it, like a drug. Recently, it’s been chocolate chocolate chip. It’s bad, but it’s so good.”

George Holz for PEOPLE for use on CBB

Actress/songstress Jill Scott is officially singing lullabies! The new mama and her fiancé, drummer Lil Jon Roberts, welcomed their first child Monday, April 20th, Jill’s manager confirms to PEOPLE. Baby boy Jett Hamilton Roberts — weighing in at 7 lbs., 8 oz. — coincidentally made his big debut at 4:20 p.m. Jill’s due date had been April 25th.

The Why Did I Get Married? star first announced her pregnancy in January, later revealing that the couple were expecting a baby boy. In March, Jill admitted that the news had come as quite the surprise, after being told by her doctors that she would never conceive. “It sorts of throws you for a huge loop, especially since I was told I could never be pregnant,” she said. “This was a shock, a complete and utter shock to me.”

Jennifer Garner Dishes on Sweet Sera

Courtesy InStyle

In the cover story for the May issue of InStyle, mom-of-two Jennifer Garner offers a glimpse at what life is like behind closed doors for her famous family of four; what she depicts is not at all unlike that which plays out daily for moms everywhere, however. The 37-year-old actress says it’s the “morning combo” of nursing 3-month-old Seraphina Rose Elizabeth and readying 3-year-old Violet Anne for preschool which proves to be the biggest challenge. Husband Ben Affleck “will do the school run” and pitches in elsewhere as-needed, but his handiwork is easy to spot, Jennifer reveals!

“He dresses [Violet] and does her hair. It’s pretty funny. You can always tell when he has been at it, just two random barrettes hanging in there. It’s so sweet.”

Nighttime can be just as hectic. “Violet wanted me to rock her,” Jennifer explains of the evening before. “The baby was ready to nurse. Ben was doing something or other and trying to have a conversation with me in the middle of the night for some reason.” Needless to say sleep has been hard to come by since Sera, as they call her, arrived but the couple are savoring every moment with their latest addition. Jennifer seems particularly smitten. “I’m so sure of her sweetness as a person,” the Ghosts of Girlfriends Past star says. “We’ve only known her for a few months, but she’s taught me that there’s an innate goodness in people that’s real, and it’s there from birth.” Violet has also had a profound impact on her mom; Jennifer credits her older daughter with teaching her “to slow down and appreciate things.”

“Once, when she was 6-months-old, I was nursing her and kind of in a hurry. I was impatient, and she was really taking her time, just staring at the ceiling. So I looked up, and the way the light was playing on the ceiling was so beautiful. I wouldn’t have noticed that on my own.”

Brooke Shields Says Pregnancy Puts a Positive Spin on Body Image

INF

At 43-years-old, life for Brooke Shields has come full circle. After a childhood spent in the spotlight as an actress in films such as Pretty Baby and The Blue Lagoon, Brooke developed a “complete detachment” from her body image as a teenager, admitting in a new interview with More that her innocence towards puberty did not compliment her blossoming body, immortalized in ads for Calvin Klein.

When the actress discovered she was expecting her daughter Rowan Francis in 2002, her feelings toward her body quickly changed as she approached the pregnancy in awe. “It seemed important to me all of a sudden,” she says.

“It was life and my body had this purpose so far beyond just being there to look at, or tan or shave. Suddenly I realized how good it had been to me over the years, and what it had sustained. And I was in my thirties at the time.”

Raised in a single-parent household — her parents were divorced when Brooke was a baby — the actress always dreamt big when it came to one day starting a family of her own. Fortunately, her wishes came true! “I wanted a two-parent household and all of that, and I basically got it, I’m in a healthy relationship; I have two extraordinary kids,” she gushes. “I’ve spent a good portion of my life with the goal being ‘husband, family — if I get that, then I’m normal and healthy and I won’t become a Hollywood casualty.’”

With the ability to “check that off my really big list,” Brooke shares that she is looking forward to nurturing her career, as she balances her work with motherhood. “I want to keep working and growing,” she says.

In addition to Rowan, 5 ½, Brooke and her husband Chris Henchy are also parents to Grier Hammond, 3.
