Jeff Gordon: Family Hasn't Lessened Love of Racing

The Media Circuit/INF

Since becoming a father to 22-month-old Ella Sofia, Jeff Gordon can hardly deny that life has changed. “It’s definitely made a big impact on my life,” he told reporters Friday at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.

The 37-year-old NASCAR driver was quick to clarify, however, that it hasn’t changed everything. “Family has always been important to me and been a priority but it doesn’t change my focus on racing and what I do in the race car,” he explains. “Certainly not how I approach racing.” In fact, Jeff says he’s “more intense about racing today” than he’s ever been.

That said – at the same time — he’s clearly smitten with his daughter. “I love being a dad,” Jeff admits.

“Just this week getting to go to school with her and different classes…We went to the museum and different things. Just seeing things through her eyes is incredible.”

Ella is Jeff’s daughter with wife Ingrid Vandebosch.

Coleen Rooney on Baby Names: To Each Their Own

Goff/INF

Since announcing her first pregnancy, Coleen Rooney, wife of Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, has encountered a phenomenon that most expectant mothers can attest to: “Everything seems to be all babies, babies, babies at the moment,” she blogs for OK! UK. Coleen recently attended the christening of a friend’s newborn, and soon thereafter learned that pal Gareth Gates and his wife Suzanne welcomed a daughter named Missy. “It’s a nice name, if a little bit unusual, though it’s not as odd as some – the week before Jamie Oliver called his new daughter Petal Blossom Rainbow,” Coleen observes. “I like it, it’s really girlie.”

“I know some people say it’s unfair to give children names that are so ‘out there,’ but I’m not one for criticizing – every parent should call their baby whatever they like.”

That said, Coleen said it’s doubtful that she’ll settle on an unusual moniker for her own son or daughter. “Would I call my baby Rainbow or Sunrise Rooney?” she asks. “I don’t know if I would.” There’s still plenty of time for Coleen and Wayne to decide – and from the sound of things, the couple aren’t in a hurry!

“I haven’t thought about names yet as you change your mind all the time…Besides, people always say you should wait until you see what the baby looks like before you think about what to call it.”

Baby-on-the-way is due in October.

Kerri Walsh's Medal Count Continues to Grow

Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage

When Kerri Walsh revealed that she and husband Casey Jennings planned to start a family after the Beijing Olympics, she wasn’t kidding! Just two days after taking the gold medal in women’s beach volleyball with partner Misty May-Treanor, the couple — married in 2005 — conceived their first child. The milestones are not mutually exclusive, either — at least in Kerri’s eyes! She tells the May issue of Pregnancy magazine that “when we won the gold, it helped me focus on the next medal, which was getting pregnant.” The experience has exceeded her expectations…So much so that she’s vowed to have “at least” three children — and preferably four!

“The best thing about being pregnant is everything feels so special. Feeling the baby move inside me is truly a miracle.”

The couple opted to learn the sex of baby-on-the-way, but they’re not sharing. Initially Kerri says she “truly did not want to know,” but it was important to Casey. “We had an ultrasound two weeks before Christmas and I asked the doctor to put the news in an envelope and seal it as a gift,” she recalls. “I cried as he opened it and we found out together.” The reason for her change of heart? “I thought it would help him connect to the pregnancy more since I’m living it every day,” Kerri, 30, explains.

While many women find themselves unmotivated to work out while pregnant, as an Olympic athlete Kerri often has the opposite problem. “I’m not trying to kill myself anymore,” she says. “Slowing down the pace has been the most challenging part.” She keeps herself in shape with a mix of light cardio, weightlifting and Pilates — but all the squats in the world haven’t been enough to fight the inevitable. Jokes Kerri,

“No one told me what happens to your butt and that truly frightens me. I need to get back into a Speedo!”

Jerry O’Connell’s Twins Love Dancing With the Stars — and Idol!

Sean O’Neill/INF

Jerry O’Connell thinks he knows Dancing With the Stars‘ littlest fans — his twin girls Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip!

“They watch what I watch,” the new dad told PEOPLE at the Cinema Society premiere of his film Obsessed in New York City. “I know this is probably bad, I’ll get in trouble for this, but I do put them in front of the television and they love it.”

The girls, born December 28th, “don’t know how to work the remote because they are only four months old,” Jerry said, but they do have their favorite shows.

“The news channels kind of bore them, but they love Dancing With the Stars,” he explained. “I think it’s the music and the people twirling and the color. It’s just a bright show. They also like Adam [Lambert] on American Idol. I put them in these rockers in front of the TV if I’m watching and they calm down. You watch their faces and they just smile. They really like it. I want them in the room with me, and I don’t put their faces up near the set.”

And how does dad tell his little TV fans apart? “Dolly is blonde … Charlie is brunette, which is really helpful because I was getting very confused for a little while,” Jerry said. “Dolly is very girly and she is kind of coy and looks at you out of the tops of her eyes. And Charlie, the brunette, never cries, but when she wants something she growls.”

As for Rebecca Romijn, Jerry has nothing but kudos for his wife, who continues to nurse the girls exclusively, despite being back at work on the set of Eastwick.

“Rebecca is breastfeeding the whole time, that’s the most remarkable thing. She’s working right now and nursing. We’re shuttling milk back and forth from the set and bringing the kids to her. A [lactation consultant] at the hospital taught her the double football hold — that’s what we call it. And it’s great.”
