Constance Zimmer's Daughter Colette is Little Pim's Newest Fan!

At a recent event for Little Pim, an immersion language series for young children, held at the Tree House Social Club in Beverly Hills, Entourage‘s Constance Zimmer brought her 15-month-old daughter Colette to show their support. Constance said, “My daughter and I love Little Pim. My husband [Russ Lamoureux] is French so Colette and I are learning French together. Little Pim is fun for her and something we enjoy doing together.”

The Little Pim DVD series — which introduces foreign languages to babies, toddlers and preschoolers — is available in Spanish, French, Chinese, Italian, Hebrew, Japanese and English (ESL). How should you choose which language to teach your child? Little Pim recommends picking a language you have always wanted to speak, one that you can reinforce easily with your caretaker, kids, trips and music. The company tells us that all of the languages are popular but the hottest ones are Spanish, French and Chinese.

I speak fluent french, spanish, and english, and my husband does too. When our daughter was born we got custody of my husbands daughter from another marriage, but she only knew english. I taught her french, she speaks fluently now, and she’s learning spanish in school and from her father. I didn’t want her to feel left out, and its a great advantage to be trilingual.

Awwww Colette is adorable!

My boyfriend and I speak Japanese (not fluently, but we know some words/phrases), so we are trying to teach my almost 2 year old girl too. We will eventually be working on Latvian, German and Gaelic/Irish as well because of our heritage (He’s Irish and German and I’m Irish and Latvian).

We’ve always been interested in learning other languages, and we’d love to have a multilingual family.

She’s so sweet!

I was born in El Salvador and am half Salvadoran, half Nicaraguan. Considering Spanish is the primary language spoken by my family, it was important that my children be able to communicate with them. From day one, my daughters have been raised bilingually and know as much Spanish as they do English.

My fiance, on the otherhand, is half Finnish and part Puerto Rican and Italian. On occassion, his mother will teach the girls Finnish words and, surprisingly, they remember them.

Childrens’ capacity to learn constantly amazes me. They definitely soak up information like a sponge.

I would love to teach any child of mine a different language than their primary one. I think for me, I’d choose Spanish, since I know it better than the other languages listed, and I’d be able to converse with them, help them. But, I wouldn’t mind if they learned another one, if their father (or his family) speak a different native tongue. The more they know, the more they’d benefit in the long run, is how I see it.
