Jessica Alba Already Preparing For Honor's First Birthday

Many CBB readers have marveled at the size of Honor Marie Warren, the 10-month-old daughter of Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, and in a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno the 27-year-old actress said that looks are not deceiving. “She’s a big girl,” Jessica observed. “She’s almost as big as me! She’s, like, 25 pounds.” The family of three is looking forward to Honor’s upcoming first birthday but Jessica admits that planning the party is “stressful.”

“The first birthday is really more for the parents. I don’t know. We might do, like, Dumbo … we might have music. I’m going to bake a cake that she can eat and put all over her face.”

Speaking of the latter, Jessica did a test run at Easter with “organic, dairy-free, egg-free cupcakes.” While the cupcakes themselves were “awesome” and “moist,” Jessica says that the icing “sucked” — so she decided to take a detour from the health-food route, and opted for icing in a can! “It was like, all this organic stuff and then canned icing,” she laughed.

One thing is for sure, Honor doesn’t seem to be a picky eater! “She is a very healthy girl,” Jessica agreed.

Honor is adorably edible!!

She was really funny on Leno! And the cupcake story shows how ridiculous those tabloid stories were when they were saying Jessica imposing some diet on her whole family. She didn’t deprive them of yummy icing from a can, hee!

Tess on

Where can we get her recipe for egg-free cupcakes?

Yea it’s true honor is a big baby. Leno joked the baby looks bigger than her lol.

I wonder if she’s still nursing. Honor is a very healthy baby! I could just kiss those little chubby legs all day!! :)

Jess looks fantastic!!!

Wow. I never hear Jessica speak, her movies are dubbed here, and I never see interviews of her!!
She sounds a little … not superficial but you know … overdoing it, but I think with those kind of interviews asking about your personal life details you shouldn’t be too serious either. She seems very happy to have Honor, I wish her all the fun for that birthday party!!!

I read somewhere that she said big women run in her family, and she had to cook for herself at a young age to avoid that. I can understand egg free or whatever but unless you’re vegan whats wrong with dairy? Dairy rocks!

Tess, I was wondering the same thing. I have two children (4 years old and almost 10 months). My oldest has food allergies to eggs, milk, wheat, oat, rye and barley, and per doctor’s orders, we’re avoiding peanuts and other legumes, tree nuts and all forms of seafood. We have one cake mix that is okay, but love experimenting. Where can we get that recipe?!!?

There are lots of vegan cupcake recipes. My friend has a cookbook of nothing but vegan cupcake recipes. Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/Vegan-Cupcakes-Take-Over-World/dp/1569242739/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240520730&sr=8-1

Anon, Jessica has said that before that reading the book “Skinny B!tch” has changed a lot of her views and eating habits. Also, I think the cake is meant for Honor to eat,so maybe she is concerned about egg allergies.

Anon- I agree! Why deny a child dairy unless they show signs of being allergic or intolerant of it?

That video made me cringe, she was so over the top I think- but sweet to hear about Honor and what a gorgeous girl she is!

Does Honor have egg allergies?? I hope not because it can be really awful! I have a friend who started a bakery because her daughter has life-threatening allergies to dairy and eggs. It was really hard to make moist, homemade tasting cakes…and especially the icing! I included her website in case anyone is interested. I have a one-year old boy and he’s only 20 lbs…that’s one healthy and ADORABLE baby!

babyboopie- How was she over the top?

In answer to Anon’s question, dairy is not only unhealthy (despite what the milk industry has said for so many years) but 99% of the cows that produce the stuff live their short, miserable lives in factory farms, never seeing the light of day, never feeling the grass beneath their feet, breathing re-circulated air and pumped full of chemicals, antibiotics and growth hormones until their milk-producing days are over and they’re slaughtered for hamburger.

Dairy production is also responsible for greenhouse gas emissions and the methane produced by the animals (cow farts) are a major contributor to climate change, according the United Nations FAO report, Livestock’s Long Shadow (2006).

So I would disagree with your statement. Dairy may taste good but it certainly doesn’t rock. There are plenty of substitutes (soy milk, almond milk, etc.) that rock more than cow’s milk and are better for you and the kids.

Ari on

Hi Anon — I just want to expand a bit on Daniel’s post. Many people don’t know this but dairy cows have to be pregnant in order to produce milk just like all mammals. Their gestation time is the same as a human, 9 months. After a dairy cow gives birth, she is given only 24 hours to spend with her newborn calf. After that, her baby is taken away. It is said that dairy cows bellow and moan for weeks for their missing child. As for the babies, if the calf is female, she will become a dairy cow but if that calf is male, he will become veal. So if you’re buying dairy, you’re supporting the veal industry. Back to the mothers, a cow’s lifespan is somewhere around 20 years but because these cows are so “spent” after continually being impregnated and pumped for milk they are sent to the slaughterhouse after only 4 years. It’s very cruel. And think about this… humans are the only species of animals that drinks milk past childhood and we’re the only species that drinks the milk of another species.

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
