Hugh Jackman Says Oscar 'Scopes the Crowd for Chicks'

Daniel/Cesar/INF

In a humorous appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Hugh Jackman revealed that his 8 ½-year-old son Oscar Maximillian is all about the ladies – and all about using dad’s career to rope them in! The 40-year-old actor was honored Tuesday with a hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, and while Oscar was on hand to mark the occasion, his attention was focused elsewhere. “He’s already scoping the crowd for chicks,” Hugh said with a laugh. “It’s unbelievable!”

“The other day he said, ‘Dad, 2 o’clock, hot chick. Look, they’re hot aren’t they?’ They were about 14. Part of me is going, ‘Yeah, good on ya son!’ And part of me is like, ‘Oscar, they’re 14. I can’t comment on whether they’re hot or not!”

Oscar proceeded to approach the group of girls, and what he said next left Hugh floored. “I could hear him go, ‘Hi, how are you? I just wanted you to know my dad is Wolverine,” Hugh recalled. “He brings them over, and goes, ‘Dad, give them an autograph, will ya?’” Oscar’s little sister Ava Eliot, 3 ½, was also present at Grauman’s and — like her brother — the significance of the day was not readily apparent. After the ceremony, she asked Hugh, “How did it feel?”

“I said, ‘Well, darling, you know, it’s a big moment for daddy and this is an unusual thing.’ She said, ‘No, dad, how did it feel with the cement?’ I said, ‘Oh, sorry…It was wet and dirty.’”

Oscar and Ava are Hugh’s children with wife Deborra-Lee Furness. He can next be seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, opening May 1st.

God I love him. Does he say “get in there” or “good on ya”? Because it sounds like he says the second one, and isn’t that an Australian expression?

You’re right, thanks!

That story of Oscar is one of the funniest I’ve ever heard! Haha, he sounds like a heartbreaker-in-the-making! Too cute!

Ryo- he says “good on ya” meaning “well done”. He just says it in jest.

“How did it feel?” – LOL!!! Those kids are so cute!!

He told this same story on Jonathan Ross in the UK last week. I guess celebs really do have a stock of answers and stories for interviews and the same questions they get asked. Still helluva cute story though ;)

Then how come they didn’t see me? I think my top was low enough.. LOL

LauraSW-I wouldn’t necessarily say it is a “stock answer”. People retell the same story about their kids all the time. I definitely lose count of how many times I hear the same story about my nieces or cousins…until they do something else really cute and then it starts again!

The cement story is adorable. :)

I’m following him on twitter! he’s so funny and amazing. He just came back from Disneyland with the family. I hope someone got some pics of that!

LOL – the story about Oscar is so fantastic :)

LauraSW, it’s not a celeb thing it’s a parent thing. When my kids or grandkids do something cute I bore everyone to tears with the story until the next one then start boring them with that one! I love hearing him go on about his kids because it’s so not a celeb thing with him.

Oscar is into older woman already. Oh, dear, seems he might be a handful…lol And it’s funny when the kids are fascinated by the smaller things, with Ava wanting to know about how it felt to be in the wet cement, not paying too much attention to the ceremony itself.
Cute stuff!

The story of Ava asking about the cement is too cute! Kids are always so into the small things in life – how the cement felt rather than the ceremony.
