Carnie Wilson Primps With a Pedicure

Limelight

Treating herself to a mani/pedi, Carnie Wilson was spotted out in Sherman Oaks, Calif. on Wednesday. Due with daughter Luciana in June, Carnie, who turns 41 next week, opened up about how her second pregnancy is different than her first with Lola Sofia, 4.

“My body is used to being pregnant and my uterus knows what to do. The great news is that I’m able to exercise this pregnancy. I’m walking a lot. I’m not a hiking kind of pregnant chick — that’s so not me. But I’m eating healthy. Emotionally, I’m excited and feel more proud. I’m 40 and pregnant, you know! And I’m carrying a few extra pounds, but that’s okay.”

Carnie can currently be seen hosting The Newlywed Game on The Game Show Network. She also recently gave us a peek at Luciana’s nursery — check it out here!

She looks adorable!

- Chris on

Carnie looks so happy but I would not want to wear black sweats in this crazy CA spring weather especially if I was very pregnant!

- Ashley on

Wow she is very large, she is gonna have a hard time losing the weight.

- gianna on

#3 I think she is wearing a outfit that doesn’t flatter her body! I think something loose fitting and not so tight in the pants area would be nicer on her! I love Carnie, she’s a beautiful woman inside and out but i think this outfit is tight fitting on her!

- g!na on

Actually I think she looks really good, she is due very soon and has always had issues with her weight. She isn’t that big for someone who is going to have a baby in a few weeks!!

- Elizabeth on

She’s due in two months and looks fine…….my belly looks like hers although I am due in 3 weeks. I still love her!!

- Kristin on

If the only ounce of fat on her body was on her bump I’m sure people would jump on that too. She looks happy and healthy to me :)

- Lara on

Its so nice to finally see a healthy prego mama! She seems to have found a good balance to her life. Beautiful!

- Lisa on

I was actually thinking she looks pretty good. Not liking the outfit but it may have fit better when she wasn’t so far along.

- kris on

I am so use to seeing these very thin pregnant hollywood moms that seeing Carnie Wilson shocks me a little…lol

She does look great!

- XOXO on

The important thing is that she is happy about herself and the baby is healthy. I am glad to say that it seems that both of these are correct.

- Leigh on

She looks too big. The fact that the sweater clasps at the top and her pants don’t fit isn’t helping. She’s got a very pretty face and everything but she doesn’t look healthy to me, at least.

- anon on

Do you people talking negatively about her weight even KNOW who Carnie Wilson is? She’s struggled with her weight her entire life and had gastric bypass several years ago. It’s not like she just gained 100 lbs during her pregnancy. Jesus, people, if she hadn’t gained any weight you’d be complaining too. She looks great!

- Julie on

She actually looks the same she always looks to me, just with a belly. I don’t see how some of the posters up here are saying she looks too big. Carnie is not naturally a thin woman so I wouldnt expect her to become stick thin when she got pregnant.

- Lee on

She looks good. Remember she was at 350 pounds not long ago! She has never been thin. She looks just fine for being due in a couple months.

- Angelina on

People wonder where the pressure to loose weight the minute you give birth comes from. Guess all they need to do to find an answer is look at some of these comments.

This healthy and happy mother looks fine to me.

- Daisy on

Anon she doesn’t look healthy at all. People make comments about her weight, because she mentions her weight in every single article you read about her in. Right before she got pregnant, she had gained weight and had tried losing weight, but not very much. Now she isn’t due till june and already gained over 45lbs she said. That’s way too much for an overweight person. Doctors recommand when you are heavy to begin with, not to try to get very large, it’s not healthy for you or the baby. Look at her thighs how big they look. Looking healthy is one thing, looking heavy is another thing. Not everybody is rail thin like someone like nicole richie is when pregnant, but you can’t say that is healthy either for a person who struggles constantly with weight. 45lbs on heidi klum or brooke burke when pregnant is fine, cause they are thin to begin with, but on carnie wilson, not good and she still has almost 2 months left.

- gianna on

“Do you people talking negatively about her weight even KNOW who Carnie Wilson is? She’s struggled with her weight her entire life and had gastric bypass several years ago. . .”

The fact is that Carnie Wilson would not be in the media if it wasn’t for her own remarks. She always has to talk about herself and sometimes she says things that are so private that she really should learn to censor herself. I have realized that it is just who she is and if she cannot be in the spotlight, then she isn’t happy. That being said, the woman is in DENIAL and I believe, unfortunately, always will be, as far as her weight is concerned. Just wait until she has the baby and hear all her great weight loss plans for the future or how she is going to go on yet another reality show or try for weight loss surgery again. She is always going to continue to yo-yo because that is who she is. I understand it, if only she would I think she would be a happier person, but for some reason, she cannot just enjoy her life and her family because she just has to have her picture taken or be interviewed.

And Amen to everything Gianna said – I couldn’t have said it better!!!

- Jenna on

Julie,

What?? I wish people would stop saying stupidness. This whole “celebrities can’t win” thing doesn’t work for every instance. No one would say a word about Carnie Wilson cause she was overweight prior to getting pregnant. A woman is only supposed to gain 25 and 35 lbs by the end. Thats if you’re in a healthy range to begin with. This woman is constantly trying to justify her unhealthiness to every people. I know personally how hard it can be to lose weight. But Carnie is notorious for saying stupid weight related comments all the time. Maybe if she was 2006 nicole richie then people would comment.

- anon on

I do not want to criticize Carnie Wilson because she seems like a nice person but she has really gained a lot of weight during this pregnancy and I feel bad for her because I can imagine how difficult it will be for her to loose this weight after the baby.

Carnie is one of the few celebrities who have been very open by her weight: she had her gastric bypass surgery televised; appeared on Oprah numerous times and VH1′s Celebrity Fit Club. What sad is that Carnie still has two months to go and she has already gained a tremendous amount of weight. Like someone earlier said, for someone who is overweight at the outset of the pregnany the recommended amount of weight again is below 35lbs.

- Di on

Man am I glad that I’m not a celebrity…I would have had some of you posters through the roof with my weight gain during my pregnancies. I gained 60 lbs. with each of my three children, and it didn’t matter what I ate…with #1 all I wanted was chocolate, but with #2 I craved veggies. With # 3 I was terribly sick the entire pregnancy, and I STILL gained 60 lbs. Some people just can’t help gaining too much weight during pregnancy!

- Carrie on

Boy, I hope Carnie doesn’t read these comments! If you’re reading, Carnie, you look great! What matters is the beautiful baby you’re carrying. There’s always time to lose weight after the baby is born.

I don’t understand why people feel the need to point out that she’s gained more than the norm. What do the critics here expect her to do now? Go on a strict 1200 calorie a day diet?

I’m 5 months pregnant and pre-pregnancy started out “a little thick”. Like Carnie I walk and I eat right, but I won’t stress out too much over the weight gain. I’m expecting my 3rd baby and every pregnancy is different. I gained 25 lbs with my first and 65 lbs with my 2nd (I dropped 50 of those lbs within 10 months).

It’s the Nicole Richies of the celebrity world that seem to skew people’s perspectives.

Go Carnie! You’re doing just fine!

- Mary on

She looks great!!!!!

Love the fact that she is a positive plus size pregnant women. I was well over 300 pounds when I delivered all 4 fo my children. I didnt gain at all while pregnant but I was always overweight. My pregnancies were all fine, nothing out of the ordinary. No complications or anything.

I think she looks great and very happy. And face it, some people just dont get what its like to be an overwieght pg person. There will ALWAYS be someone who says she looks huge or shes too big or etc etc etc….I say she should stick with what ehr doctor says…

- Courtney on

aaw Carnie is adorable!!!! I just think people are commenting on her because she gained weight after bypass and she’s pregnant again, of course she’s going to gain weight! Carnie will never be a small person, either will I !!!! I’m a plus size girl and i can relate to Carnie! i just think she should wear clothes that flatter her figure! I wear clothes that fit me nicely and are not tight. Let’s face it! i’m never going to wear skinny jeans, two piece bathing suits etc. Carnie is gorgeous!!! She’s the prettiest out of Wilsonphillips group! She’s beautiful inside & out!!!! Carnie, enjoy your pregnancy & your cravings soon you will meet your new healthy daughter and that what matters! The new baby! &hearts:

It is not healthy to gain too much weight during pregnancy, that’s what doctors say…
I gained 14 kgs (don’t know in pounds) and my doctor wasn’t happy….With my 1rst pregnancy i gained 22 kgs! and it was bad…I still have 10 kgs to loose, after 4 years!

- sil on

She does look a little big – but she was wasn’t tiny to start with!! People are only commenting because we aren’t used to seeing normal pregnant women as the majority of celebs are very slim to start with and watch their weight very carefully all through pregnancy as they are constantly in the public gaze.
She looks like a normal pregant lady to me and at least if she doesn’t manage to loose every pregnancy pound(most women I know don’t!) her children will have a cuddley mum!!

- englishkate on

Reading some of these comments that are saying “go Carnie” is exactly why the average American size is a 10-12! She looks to big. Period.

- allison on

Thank you allison. I hate when people are like “the average woman in america is a 14″ like thats an excuse. Are we a different species?? The average size in Europe is an 8. We as a americans have a serious problem, but insist on fooling ourselves.

- anon on

Alison and anon,
A size 10/12 on some body types could be healthy. Just like a size 4 on some body types could be UNHEALTHY. If you’re starving yourself to be a size 4, is that healthy? NO. If you’re 5 feet tall and a size 10, is that healthy? Probably not. It depends on your body type and build. Everyone’s different! Carnie does look heavy here, but for pete’s sake, she’s pregnant. Some people gain 10 lbs…some 50 lbs…no matter what they eat. Don’t judge!

- SH on

SH,

So very true. I’m 5’9″ and the absolute thinnest I’ve ever been was a size 10 at 134 lbs when I was 20 years old. I had a small waist and an ample hip/butt region. :-) I couldn’t even maintain that weight for very long…I felt way more comfortable around 155-160 lbs. Now I’m pregnant with my 3rd child and my bra size has grown to a D cup (much to my husband’s delight) and there’s NO WAY I’ll ever be 134 lbs and a size 10 again. But I wouldn’t want to lose my curves now!

It’s all very relative. I personally think a size 10/12/14 are perfectly normal and healthy sizes for women. Size 4 seems like a child size to me…no offense!

- Mary on

She looks so pretty and happy…

Gina you read my mind, I would wear clothes less constrictive.

- T on

Mary, a size 14 usually isn’t a healthy size for a woman of average height. Obviously taller women should weigh a little more to be proportional, but let’s face it, most women aren’t 5’10″. Obesity is a major problem in America and it’s starting younger and younger. The mindset that it’s ok for a woman of average height to be a size 14 isn’t going to help.

I was a little surprised at all of the comments targeted at Carnie’s weight, but to be honest I don’t disagree. She is not healthy. Obesity can lead to heart problems, diabetes, etc. Part of being a good mom is taking care of yourself so you can be there for your kids.

- Sarah K. on

Maternal obesity during pregnancy poses major health risks for the child. In fact, the Teratology Society considers obesity on par with smoking, drinking, and lack of folic acid. Women with a BMI of 30 or greater, for instance, have double the risk of neural tube defects, even after controlling for diabetes and nutritional deficiencies. I am not commenting on this celebrity in particular; she has ever right to make her own choices, and dramatic weight loss during pregnancy is not recommended. However, previous posters should be aware that doctors strongly recommend achieving a healthier weight before conceiving. Since 54.5% of American women ages 20 – 39 are overweight and 29.1% are obese, according to National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, this is highly relevant. (In case you’re curious, I am an epidemiologist, and all the data I have cited is from peer-reviewed journals that are available to the public via Google searches.)

- Sydney on

I’m 5’11 and a size 12. I look like a size 8. The average american woman is a 5’4. So 14 is still a no no.

- anon on

Anon & Allison, Sorry we cannot abide by your weight standards! I would hate to be your child and have to be stressed out about how much i weigh! This makes children have weght issues. I think these statements are offensive to pluz size women. Many large women are healthy but people like you make us look bad in the public! Poor Carnie, I hope she doesn’t read these negative comments! She has struggled all her life, give her a break! We cannot all be thin like you! Did you ever have to struggle with staying thin? if not, than you don’t understand what large women go through! Carnie, be happy with yourself and youe body! You are beautiful! What counts the most is what inside of us! To be loving, caring people! Who are nonjudgemental of others!!

April 24th, 2009 at 6:03 pm

I’m 5′11 and a size 12. I look like a size 8. The average american woman is a 5′4. So 14 is still a no no.

Are you kidding me? Size 14 a no no! My friend is 5’4 and is a size 14. She looks great! I’m sorry not everyone is tall like you! Try being short for a day! You will see how hard it is for short women to stay thin by your standards! We all can’t be size 4′s! I’m totally disgusted by you saying a size 14 is fat! If everyone thought like you we would have so many girls starving themselves to live by your standards!

- g!na on

Umm. Size 14 is not good. I’m a size 14, of average height, and I’m fat, heavy, plus size, whatever you want to call it. It has nothing to do with my worth as person. Size and weight have absolutely nothing to do with who I am as a person and I hate that people take offense to the whole size 14 debate. Its not personal. Its about health and numbers. The average american woman is obese/size 14. Average…fact. Every girl I know that wears a size 14 has extra weight on them. Some of us look great or not so great at different sizes but the point is its unhealthy, and I myself am in the process of getting myself to a healthier place. Its not personal. Its about health and numbers. Aside from that I would be super concerned about becoming pregnant at my size just because of the HEALTH concerns. I really don’t have much to say about Carnie except that I’m happy for her and that she shouldn’t let people’s comments get in the way of her happiness. Her baby is a blessing.

- danigirl on

You can be disgusted all you want. I really really don’t care. The average height of women in Europe is not that different form the average height of women here the states. However the average woman in Europe is a size 8 and here it’s a 14. America has a HUGE obesity problem and the size issue is a huge example of that.

My point with using myself for an example was I am 7inches taller than the average woman yet my dress size is the same?? That doesn’t make a lot of sense. I’m 165 lbs. Ummm and sorry but I’ve struggled with my weight all my life, I’ve been 120lbs I’ve been 200lb so don’t try and go there. Americans live a sedentary lifestyle and instead of getting off there butts and doing something about it they’d rather pat each others fatbacks and say “its okay, have another oreo”.

- anon on

“My friend is 5′4 and is a size 14. She looks great! I’m sorry not everyone is tall like you! Try being short for a day! You will see how hard it is for short women to stay thin by your standards! We all can’t be size 4’s! I’m totally disgusted by you saying a size 14 is fat! If everyone thought like you we would have so many girls starving themselves to live by your standards!”

This debate has truly reached a level of absurdity. A size 14 isn’t “fat” (ie, overweight)? It is “so hard” for short women to stay thin? It takes girls “starving themselves” to maintain a healthy (read: not overweight) weight? I realize this is a sensitive topic that not everyone can maturely talk about, but pulling nonsensical facts out of your behind to defend yourself against something that should not be personal is your own issue.

Being overweight is not healthy. Period. Being overweight while pregnant is not healthy. Period. Just because one third of Americans has now reached a point of obesity is not healthy. Period. And trying to defend it only makes yourself look silly.

FWIW: I’m just under 5’2, a size 4, and eat what I want, when I want it. Many of my friends are around my height and not overweight in the least. So we can stop with the “so hard for short women to carry weight” bs.

- Lauren on

Anon,
That isn’t fair because not all Americans are like that.

- Silvermouse on

No not at all, I’m sorry if I made it seem like that. Some people are prone to gaining weight, some people have thyroid problems, some people have eating disorders. My whole point is acknowledge the problem and don’t make excuses. Don’t try to justify unhealthiness. This is actually a global problem, but I’m focusing on Americans at the moment!

- anon on

I agree with you, Di, it’s going to be awful for Carnie if she wants to lose that weight.
But then again, I don’t think people should obsess about their weight. They should just try to live a healthy life with plenty of exercise and a moderate amount of food. That to me is heatlhy
Some people are just naturally curvy. For ex. I work out 6-7 times for 2 hours (on elliptical and bike, and burn 600 calories per a day), take the stairs (I live on the sixth floor of a dorm), and watch my sweets intake. Yet I’m size 8, and 5’4″.
I’m just naturally curvy and have broad hips from my mama. haha
*and no I don’t have a working out obsession, (I work out bc I suffer from awful anixiety and it relives my stress) To me obsessing about weight is a death wish. (anorexia, bulimia, binges) Why do people do it? It’s insanity.
My best wishes to Carnie :-)

- Silvermouse on

Okay, lol
Sorry if I sounded rude :-)

- Silvermouse on

I think people should be happy about themselves and if they feel good about their weight than that is what matters! Unless your 500lbs and need a motor device to get around because of your weight than just be happy!lol. ( That was an exaggeration). I don’t sit on my bum all day. I walk a lot im still plus size but i definitely get my exercise. I have a busy life style but it’s hard for me to lose weight. I’m healthy, i just got a check up! no diabetes, no high blood pressure & no cholestrol problems! Well, i do agree with health risks for being over weight which one is diabetes! I hope all the ladies on this thread have a good weekend! Even if i don’t agree with some i did learn a lot too! Anon, thanks for your opinions.

- g!na on

Anon- I’m sorry, but comparing American sizes to European sizes to make a point is not going to work. Last time I checked, European sizes are different than American sizes (for example, an American size 8 is not neccesarily the same as a European size 8, or vice versa).

- CelebBabyLover on

I totally understand silver, I didn’t think you’re being rude. I didn’t mean to be rude. I’m just someone who has struggled with weight issues and I’ve never given an excuse.

People come in all shapes and sizes and I can appreciate that and its beautiful. Not everyone is meant to be a size 4(I’m not!) but most people aren’t meant to be a 16 either. In 1950 women were only a little shorter now, but much smaller in dress size.

and G!na, girl you have a good one.

- anon on

gina…don’t for a second feel sorry for my child! My family is never stressed out about weight as we all just live a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE! We eat well balanced meals, take walks together, go to the park and run around, swim, etc… and we all look fabulous and feel fabulous about it.

- allison on

CelebBabyLover, actually there have been studies showing that Americans, on average, are larger than Europeans. And, these studies do take different sizing techniques. Quite frankly, it doesn’t even take a study. Just walking down a street in France and then walking down a street in New York, you immediately see the difference.

And g!na, a size 14 on a 5’4″ woman is not healthy, no matter how great she looks. I appreciate how hard it is to lose weight, but being that heavy isn’t good for you.

- Sarah K. on

Sarah K.- Unless you know Carnie personally or have spoken to her doctor, you have absolutely no idea what her health is like. She could very well be like G!na- overweight, but with no health issues.

As for the size thing, I don’t think I explained myself very well. I never said that Americans aren’t larger than Europeans. What I was trying to say is that a size 8 in America doesn’t neccesarily equal a size 8 in Europe, and vice versa. The best way I can describe it is to use European shoe sizes versus American shoe sizes as an example. If somebody wore a size 40 shoe in America, that would mean they had HUMONGEOUS feet. However, in Europe, a shoe size 40 is not huge at all. In fact, it is, I think, pretty average!

Same basic thing with clothing sizes: A clothing size that would huge in America might not be in Europe.

- CelebBabyLover on

I do read these comments from time to time. Thank you for supporting me during this time. I always do the very best I can when it comes to weight. Pregnancy is a tough one (and you can’t say jack until you’ve been pregnant yourself). I gained more than I wanted to this time again (but thank God 20 pounds less than last time). It is my obligation in my life to be frank and open about the weight I gain and lose. The point is, I am trying to live a healthy lifestyle…. not to be perfect. Thin doesn’t equal perfect. I can’t wait to get the baby weight off faster this time (I have an incredible plan of eating and exercise for post) so all you negative disbelievers can put your feet in your mouth. Only I know the status of my health, like one of you said…. it’s better than ever. Thank God. It’s all from my efforts over the last 11 years. Some people ask me why I read the comments people make about me. I tell them, I care about what message I send out. I wanna know what people are thinking and saying … even when they are making all the sense in the world, or just have nothing better to do than find negative things to say because they hate themselves.
Stay positive people…. you’ll be happier in your life.
Love,
Carnie

- Carnie on

My size example takes into account the sizing difference, but lets say hypothetically it didn’t. A size fourteen in UK is acting a size 12 in America or a size 40 in clothing. The average woman there is between a 36-38. The average woman here is 42-44 in european sizing. That’s still bigger. Yes a size 40 in shoe in american sizing is near impossible but the equivalent a size 9 is very possible. No, we do not know Carnies weight and she may be in okay health but excess weight does not have to impact the body in one day. A person can carry extra weight for years before they develop problems.I want to reiterate that there are naturally curvy women out there who can jog 5miles and do push ups and pull ups..however you’d be hard pressed to find one at 5’4 and a size 14.
